Firewalker begins with a tension and release sound by the horns alone, and eases into a driving samba groove. This breakout hit recorded by Camila Cabello helped bring Latin music to the pop charts. It's also thoughtfully scored to sound great with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. 10909006 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .40.00 Horn of Puente—Gordon Goodwin/arr. Mike Story. Originally composed by Gordon Goodwin for his Big Phat Band, this version is scored at the easy level by Mike Story. This Latin cha-cha is very accessible, with a written trumpet 1 solo, a montuno piano part that's cued in the saxes, an optional auxiliary percussion part, and a vibes part. Mike even included additional percussion parts for some winds to further enhance the Latin groove. Playable with optional reduced and expanded instrumentations. This jazz standard is a medium Latin/rock chart and a great tune by Nat Adderley for young players. The solos are written out for tenor sax (cued for alto sax), trumpet 1 (cued for trombone). The lead trumpet range goes to written E top space, and it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Excellent chart, no jive! Highly recommended! 10353490 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .42.00 Jo Jo Calypso—James Hadel/arr. Les Sabina. Alright, alright, here's your joyous and happy Latin chart for any performance setting! The calypso groove is easy to play, the brass ranges are very accessible, the tempo is around 142 bpm, written solos are provided for alto sax and trumpet, plus some brief melodic duets for altos and trumpets. With lots of optional parts included, it's playable with expanded instrumentations, or scored to sound great with fewer players. Everything works very well in this fine chart for young jazz bands. This hot salsa tune took Cuban-born artist Celia Cruz all the way to the top of the Latin Grammy Awards! One of the most familiar tangos throughout the world, Libertango, arranged here by Paul Murtha, will give your young players a chance to learn this important and engaging musical style.
