63 The Wonder of Christmas Production Notes Follow the story of a skeptical boy named Tommy who questions the significance of Jesus' birth. Through fun songs and guidance from his friends, everyone experiences the true meaning of Christmas. The Wonder of Christmas is the brand-new Simple Series Christmas musical for kids that marvels at the miracle of Jesus' birth and celebrates Jesus as King, Messiah, and Savior. This easy-to-learn 5-song musical, created by Terryl Padilla and John Roberts, is available in a versatile format and simple narration ideal for any group. Witness the wonder and transformative power of the Christmas story with The Wonder of Christmas. Set Each narration section is designed for four speakers. Tommy, our dynamic character of the story, plus 3 additional kid speakers. The same four children may be used for each section OR each section could use different speakers to involve more children. Tommy is the only character that should stay the same throughout the musical. All part could be played by a boy or girl. For Tommy, simply change the name to whatever fits your group. The focal point of the musical is the choir, but the stage area should be festive and fun. Place the choir on risers or steps centerstage. Decorate around them with lights, trees, ribbons, garland, etc. Make the set very Christmas-y and warm. Optional - Leave a spot to set up a live nativity during the song "Behold Him." Use other church members and/or additional kids to make up the nativity scene characters: Joseph, Mary, Jesus, Shepherds, Stable Animals, and Angels. Place four microphones, evenly placed on stands, centerstage for the narrators. Or, if available, use lapel microphones to allow the actors to move freely on stage. Cast
