Children's March—Percy Grainger/arr. Matt
Johnston. Children's March is a well-known march
by Percy Grainger, which was originally for piano,
but his scoring for wind band is the most popular. A
simple tune, first presented by the bass clarinet, is
expanded upon and subjected to all the harmonic
and rhythmic quirks Grainger is known for. The
subtle humor presented in this piece is always a
favorite with the audience. Optional percussion
parts can be used for some extra color. Scored

Country Gardens—Percy Grainger/arr. Matt
Johnston. Country Gardens is perhaps Percy
Grainger's most well-known work and at the least
is the work which brought him the most fame as
a concert pianist. This version, based on a later
orchestration of the work, came at a point in his
life in which he was tired of the tune and features
a number of purposeful "wrong" notes. Embrace
these "wrong" notes, but also perhaps give the
audience a little fair warning. Enjoy! Scored for

Johnston. Arguably the most well-known wind
band work of Percy Grainger, all six movements
of Lincolnshire Posy have been arranged here
for clarinet ensemble: Lisbon, Horkstow Grange,
Rufford Park Poachers, The Brisk Young Sailor,
Lord Melbourne, and The Lost Lady Found. From
1905-06, Grainger traveled around Lincolnshire,
England, collecting and documenting local folk
songs, and some of them are represented in this
selection. A delightful arrangement with a story to
tell that will be enjoyed by both the musicians and
