features cued backgrounds. Sample solo sheets in

Story. Originally composed by Gordon Goodwin
for his Big Phat Band, this version is scored at
the easy level by Mike Story. This Latin cha-cha
is very accessible, with a written trumpet 1 solo,
a montuno piano part that's cued in the saxes, an
optional auxiliary percussion part, and a vibes part.
Mike even included additional percussion parts for
some winds to further enhance the Latin groove.
Playable with optional reduced and expanded
instrumentations. You and your young jazz band
will really enjoy this chart! Highly recommended!

The Jive Samba—Nat Adderley/arr. Terry White.
This jazz standard is a medium Latin/rock chart and
a great tune by Nat Adderley for young players. The
solos are written out for tenor sax (cued for alto sax),
trumpet 1 (cued for trombone). The lead trumpet
range goes to written E top space, and it's playable
with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations.

hot salsa tune took Cuban-born artist Celia Cruz all
the way to the top of the Latin Grammy Awards!
Celia, or "the Queen of Salsa" as she's also known,

in the pocket for younger bands. A strong rhythmic
drive, easy ranges and catchy themes add up to
real Latin magic!

is a calypso-swing for the younger player. Based on
the simple chord progression to Happy Birthday,
the rhythm section plays a simple even eighth
note, limbo/Latin style and the winds play with a
slight swing feel and it all comes together just right!
There's some neat plunger mute work too. This chart
includes accessible ranges and written solos for alto
sax, trumpet and trombone along with great fun and
history. It also includes optional, nontraditional parts
for participation by your concert band members. Way
cool! Very highly recommended!
