life in the USA. The work has intergenerational

lines, chords and short rhythms reminiscent of
a western hoedown. A confident strong piccolo
player is needed since there are many exposed
lines throughout the composition. It is important for
the ensemble to keep the energy of the music while
maintaining a dynamic balance with the piccolo.
American Hoedown is well-suited for use in concert
programming as well as a toe-tapping encore!
