La Virgen de la Macarena—Bernardino Bautiste
Monterde/arr. Chris Sharp. Rafael Mendez's
trumpet extravaganza gets the Stan Kenton
treatment in a romping Latin epic. This will give
your trumpet section an opportunity to shine
while featuring your lead player. There's an alto
saxophone solo, and your rhythm section will find
this a fun challenge. This is the perfect way to bring
the house down at the end of your concert!

Let's Face the Music and Dance—Irving Berlin/
arr. Michael Philip Mossman. This Irving Berlin
classic feels completely at home as a mambo! With
some harmonic wrinkles and a terrific mix of scoring
styles, this chart has a great flow and pacing. Solo
space is included for alto sax. A must-have!

Mambo Over the Mountain—Rick Hirsch.
This catchy mambo is built almost entirely on the
rhythmic figure clapped in the first two bars. Its
authentic mambo flavor is a blast to play. After
two bars of hand claps, it's winds only, then the
rhythm section is layered in. Nice combinations
of instrumental textures keep things interesting
throughout. The solos can be opened up for as
many players as desired, there are optional parts
included for expanded instrumentations, and don't
miss the highly effective drum/percussion-only
interlude near the end! This is a great chart with a
lot of substance.

on Tomaro's popular big band chart, some new
material has been added just for fun! Optional
additional parts are included for alto, tenor and
trombone. This is one you will not want to miss!

You will find this Stan Kenton Orchestra piece a lot
easier and fun to play thanks to this new edition of
the chart. The instrumentation has been changed
to standard big band, and the demands for extreme
high trumpet playing have been altered. The
original of this great Latin chart was recorded on
Viva Kenton. This is a laid-back, moderate-tempo
tune that brings you the best of Kenton and Roland.
You'll love it!

Puente Arriba!—Robert Skiles/arr. Paul Baker.
Puente Arriba! takes a trip to Mexico, opening
with a bravura solo trumpet cadenza before the
bass sets up the samba groove. The saxes enter
with the melody and are answered by the brass in
counterpoint. Lots of unison writing provides power
and confidence while energy and orchestration
continue to build throughout the melody and
provide a strong send off to the trombone and
trumpet soloists. The trumpet range is to written
B-flat. An interlude follows the solos and leads to
a sax soli and shout section before returning to the
final "A" section and a rousing finish. Dynamic and
exciting throughout!
