Here is a sizzling Afro-Cuban version of this Chick Corea classic that is sure to be an impressive addition to any concert or festival program for mature bands. Perfect as a feature for your pianist, but the flexible solo section allows other players to be featured as well. Highly recommended! 10098727 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 H La Suerte de los Tontos—Johnny Richards/arr. Victor Lopez. Victor Lopez, who knows the Latin idiom inside and out, has given us a powerhouse 6/8 Latin chart that will make your ensemble sound like the Kenton Band. It's majestic, powerful and noble and includes written solo space for tenor sax and an optional Latin percussion part. Optional parts are included for flute, horn in F, baritone/tenor sax and tuba. This is a "must-have" chart with pure excitement from beginning to end! 10049728 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 52.00 Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor—Chuck Mangione/arr. Dallas Burke. This epic Latin/rock tune by Chuck Mangione is the perfect break from swing charts in concert or contest performances. After the opening statement, this chart features a written trumpet or flugelhorn solo on the original melody followed by a written or improvised trumpet solo. There's also room for the drums to get their fills in between some big ensemble hits before another solo section featuring written or improvised alto or trumpet solos. This epic treatment of the Latin classic makes a killer chart for experienced jazzers. From the understated opening Latin groove, this chart quickly builds to a powerful and eloquent musical statement. Next, there's an infectious Latin groove in the rhythm section to set up a new tempo, followed by a written or improvised tenor sax solo featuring some smokin' background licks. This original Brazilian samba captures the authenticity of the style and brings to life the drive and excitement of the culture from which it originates. The title is Portuguese for "In the Next Life." This work starts off by featuring your guitarist and then features winds playing rhythmically complex and ornamental lines. A great showcase for the entire ensemble, this Latin jazz classic is now available for your advanced jazz ensemble! Arranged for and recorded by Mario Bauza, Michael Philip Mossman adds his own unique flair to this Dizzy Gillespie tune that exudes excitement from beginning to end. The featured soloists include trumpet (of course), as well as trombone and alto. An ideal festival chart! 2481613 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 Pah-Dah-Pah-Dah—Kris Berg. As performed by Kris Berg & The Metroplexity Big Band from This Time/Last Year featuring Wayne Bergeron on an aggressive, high-energy Afro-Cuban romp! This chart grabs your attention from the very beginning as it weaves its way through modal sections of heavy Latin groovin'! Solo space for tenor sax, trombone, drums, and trumpet make this a great chart to feature several performers. Comes in 5-5- 4-4 so you can move your lead trumpet soloist out front. Great showstopper! 11205842 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . A 65.00 Ponteio—arr. Eric Richards. This Brazilian favorite from the 1960s has been recorded by a variety of artists including composer Edu Lobo, Astrud Gilberto, Sergio Mendez, and Woody Herman. The appealing style lends itself here to a masterful treatment for full jazz ensemble by Eric Richards. The flowing melody moves seamlessly from section to section supported by the infectious groove. The solo space is open for any player. Suggested solos, chord/scale sheets in all keys, and fully notated bass lines and piano voicings are included. 10759332 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 55.00 H Punta Del Soul—Dave Grusin/arr. Gordon Goodwin. Tasty and groovy with a funky Latin groove, this tune was composed by Dave Grusin and arranged by Gordon to feature Dave and guitarist Lee Ritenour on the Big Phat Band CD, Act Your Age. If you have a piano player to showcase and a tasty guitar player, this is a wonderful chart. Not technically difficult, but dynamics and colors are a key aspect of this arrangement. A 70.00 Salsa Rico—Jeff Jarvis. Salsa Rico is fast and hot right off the top! The saxes take the lead with brass answers and the excitement continues to build. Effective salsa rhythms are utilized and the brass ranges are moderate for more proficient groups. The solos are ad lib for trombone and trumpet, or anyone, over accessible straight-ahead changes. Make sure to check out the potent a cappella ensemble section after the solos. It's a salsa party! 10882610 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 Spain—Chick Corea/arr. John La Barbera. John LaBarbera has taken his well-known version of Chick Corea's Spain and done a great job of adapting it for the small band format. Certainly an exciting offering for mature players in an arrangement for six horns and rhythm section! Instrumentation: 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone plus rhythm section. Optional additional parts included for alto, tenor & trombone. 10098771 Jazz Ensemble (Little Big Band). . . . . . . .MA 45.00 This Can't Be Love—Richard Rodgers/arr. Scott Ragsdale. Scott Ragsdale puts this iconic tune through the paces as a hot samba played around 190-200 bpm! The trombones take over and grab the melody right off the top and are featured throughout with written or ad lib solos for trombones 1 and 2. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff and the usual optional parts as well as a vibes part are included for expanded instrumentations. A terrific section feature for trombones! 10756396 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 52.00 Tonight, We Tango—Rick Hirsch. You can't help but smile when you play and hear Tonight, We Tango. At around 112 bpm, this tongue-in-cheek chart is tons of fun and has a melody that just won't go away, plus the groove is one that people will insist on dancing to. It was arranged to feature Grammy-nominated accordionist Alex Meixner, but in the event you don't have an accordionist in the band (really?), you can feature any of your sauciest players on the optional B-flat, E-flat and Bass Clef solo parts. The solo parts are a combination of written passages and improvised choruses that will demonstrate the versatility of your ensemble. Nice! 10734981 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 Up Jumped Spring—Freddie Hubbard/arr. Jeff Jarvis. This Freddie Hubbard jazz standard is typically a jazz waltz, but this superb chart has a very hip Latin partido feel in 4/4. The tempo is half note around 77 bpm with solo opportunities for tenor 1 and trumpet 2, with suggested written solos provided. The lead trumpet range goes to written A-flat, there's a great sax soli, and optional flute and vibe parts are included. An excellent choice! 11199008 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 54.00 Who Will Buy?—Lionel Bart/arr. Mark Taylor. One of the signature songs from the musical "Oliver!," this tune offers a wealth of opportunities for melodic and harmonic development. Adapted here as a samba, Mark Taylor's powerful arrangement opens with a duet for trumpet and alto, followed by feature spots for saxes and solos for alto and trumpet. The nicely crafted full-ensemble tutti starts softly and builds dramatically to the end. 11171974 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 Jazz/Rock & Funk Very Easy H 25 or 6 to 4—Robert Lamm/arr. Paul Murtha. Recorded by the group Chicago, this signature hit has gone on to become a rock classic. Paul Murtha's easy arrangement is playable with very limited rehearsal time, but still has an authentic and hard-driving feel. Included are optional solos or solis for any sax and any brass instrument. Suggested solos and scale/chord sheets in all keys are included. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, it also includes a CD. Highly recommended! 10188529 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .40.00 Alligator Alley—Dean Sorenson. This one's a New Orleans-style chart that will have the bayou bouncing! It's an ideal opener and a great way for young jazzers to learn about the groove. The features include flexible instrumentation, written solos, and only four wind players are needed in addition to the rhythm section. Highly recommended! 10758597 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 Animal Control—Larry Neeck. Tame your young beasts with this fun rock chart. It has all the right stuff: a steady beat, easy rhythms and ranges, and it's fun for young players. Beginning improvisers can develop confidence with the optional two-bar solo sections over only one chord, or they can play the included written solos. It's also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Animal Control is a great way to build confidence, introduce improvisation and teach a fun style. Highly recommended! 10757068 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 Awesome Sauce!—Larry Neeck. This easy and fun beginning rock chart will be a hit with young jazz band students. A steady beat, easy rhythms, and modest ranges provide the perfect introduction to rock style. The two-measure solo section, with suggested solo riffs included, will encourage young improvisers. It's also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Awesome Sauce! provides all the ingredients needed for a successful musical performance by young jazzers. 10882804 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 Billie Jean—Michael Jackson/arr. John Berry. The song that launched Michael Jackson's famous "moonwalk" was also one of the top-selling singles of the year in 1983. This chart features the signature bass line and catchy melodies and is a great-sounding chart for young ensembles or bands with limited rehearsal time. The iconic melody is traded around between the saxes and brass. There are no solos, it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, and written out bass lines and piano voicings are included. Classic rock at its best!
