The exotic sounds and emotional design of this
major work will leave audiences breathless.

l
Fiat Lux—Randall D. Standridge. This exciting
fanfare combines compound meter, dazzling
woodwind runs, heroic brass, and significant
percussion parts to create a truly striking concert
opener. Intricate rhythms and soaring melodies add
to the overall effect as the composer walks the line
between cinematic and symphonic modes.

H First Suite in E Flat—Gustav Holst/ed. Colin
Matthews. Widely acclaimed as the first major wind
band composition of the 20th century, this excellent
work, which has served as a model for the modern
concert band repertoire, is as fresh today as when
it was first written. No band library can be called
complete unless it contains this monumental work.
152645 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . . .115.00
Four Dances from West Side Story—Leonard
Bernstein/trans. Ian Polster. Your audience will
delight in these marvelous Bernstein dances as
realized for concert band. Everyone will recognize
the familiar themes: Scherzo; Mambo; Cha-Cha
and Fugue. A truly impressive work!

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse—
Randall D. Standridge. Take a journey into the dark
side with this thrilling and dramatic work. War,
Pestilence, Famine, and Death are each illustrated
vividly in this compelling suite for wind ensemble.
A great choice for conductors who are looking to
incorporate a multitude of styles, textures, tempi,
and expressions into their next performance.

l From Sea to Shining Sea—Steve Parsons. This
6/8 concert march is fresh and dynamic. Bursting
with excitement, this original march will make a
great concert opener or closer.

Gestures—Randall D. Standridge. This four-
movement work is a celebration of conductors
and the gestures they use to communicate. After
an opening of warm-up sounds, an exciting mixed-
meter movement ensues, followed by a Grainer-
esque second movement. The third movement
is a musical hug with rich lyrical lines, then the
seafaring flavor of the finale gives expression to
new ideas and suggests new adventures to be had.

Ghost Train-Complete—Eric Whitacre. An
extremely programmatic work that tells a story
from American folklore of a supernatural train that
roars throughout the Western United States. The
first movement, Ghost Train, is rich in effects in
describing the locomotive. The second movement,
At the Station, replaces the vivid train sounds
with more abstract ideas in depicting departing
passengers. The third movement, Motive Revolution,
has the train resuming its ghostly journey.

H Ghost Train-Movement 1—Eric Whitacre. One of
the most popular works of modern band literature;
the first movement is a very effective program
piece. Resplendent in compositional effects that
describe a spectral steam locomotive with the
eerie sound of a train whistle, the gradual start of
journey and its relentless movement throughout the
countryside. A true classic!

Glorious Insurrection—Robert Sheldon. Inspired
by the overthrow of King James II of England in
1688, this dramatic musical essay is rife with
powerful, ominous chords and poignant themes
that reflect the enmity between the warring sides
during those turbulent times. Celtic-style motifs and
colorful, rhythmic percussion parts help to energize
this striking work for wind band.

Godzilla Eats Las Vegas—Eric Whitacre. An
original work best described in the composer's
own words as being "really out there." The
writing reflects a keen interest in theater, film and
television, with the structure of the piece being very
filmlike in its rapid changes of style. A unique and
memorable work.

Groovy Loops—J. Scott McKenzie. This short,
energetic, and jazzy piece is a lot of fun to play
and listen to. The title refers to repeated patterns
and phrases that provide support for the melodies
and intertwined syncopated lines. A large palette
of colors with moving lines, percussive effects, and
rich harmonies make this an essential part of every
band's library!

H Gum-Suckers March—Percy Grainger/arr. Mark
Rogers. This delightful work is "pure" Grainger!
Originally the final movement of his suite "In a
Nutshell," Grainger rescored this piece for Military
Band, Piano and Tuneful Percussion. Written in his
most popular English "music hall" style, you'll find
lots of those wonderful "Grainger-isms" here, along
with some substantial difficulty.
2357978 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . . .125.00
Handel in the Strand—Percy Grainger/arr.
Goldman. Percy Grainger himself said of this piece,
"...the music seemed to reflect both Handel and
English musical comedy...as if jovial old Handel were
careening down the Strand (London's "Broadway")
to the strains of modern English popular music."
What can one add to that? Try it and find out!

Havana Nights—Randall D. Standridge.
Mambo rhythms and exciting melodies unite in
this "ballet" for wind ensemble. Catchy rhythms,
colorful percussion, and a distinct dance feel
engage performers and audience alike. Great for
conductors looking for something outside the norm.

l Haven's Conviction—David Samuel. This
dynamic work features a light and spry melody
on top of accented brass, creating a hopeful and
majestic sound. There are complex contrapuntal
elements, and the lyrical section is full of musical
moments that students will remember long after
they have performed this piece.

H Hoe Down—Aaron Copland/arr. Mark Rogers.
Next to "Appalachian Spring," this is perhaps
Copland's most recognizable composition. It is the
final movement of his suite Four Dance Episodes
from "Rodeo," which is drawn from his Ballet score
of the same name. Wildly exuberant and charged
with energy, this arrangement by Mark Rogers can
fit into just about any program!
2361483 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . . . .90.00
Hymn to a Blue Hour—John Mackey. The blue
hour refers to the moment of day between twilight
and complete darkness, a time of day known for
its romantic, spiritual, ethereal qualities. The colors
of fading light are beautifully reflected in sound by
various instrumental combinations and textures.
Building to a brilliant climax, the brightest moment
is reached before dissipating slowly into a warm,
peaceful finish, as the light fades to darkness.
A stunning work.
10189089 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . . .195.00
Hypnotic Memories—Rossano Galante. This
charming musical offering is a departure from this
popular composer's usual epic style. Originally
scored for 15 players, this piece is more intimate
than his thickly orchestrated grand works.
Stylistically, a minimal approach is used, with
memorable melodic lines peacefully unfolding
shifting ostinato patterns.

H
Inchon—Robert W. Smith. Honoring the "forgotten
war," Robert W. Smith offers this significant work
in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Korean
conflict. It's beautifully scored to balance the
delicate oriental melodies with the dramatic and
frenzied passages that mirror the conflict. Colorfully
orchestrated, with percussion simulating the sound
of a helicopter landing and parts for piano and
alto flute (with cues for C flute), it is a thoroughly
stunning tonal collage. A significant, expansive
work, one which experienced concert bands will
proudly add to their repertoire. We give this our
highest recommendation!

H
The Inferno—Robert W. Smith. Truly colossal!
This is the first movement of Robert Smith's epic
work "The Divine Comedy." Advanced groups will
welcome the challenges and reap the rewards
inherent in the piece. Very contemporary in nature,
The Inferno includes furious woodwind ostinatos,
huge blocks of sound, tremendous percussion, and
the imagery of Hell's inferno! Not for the faint of heart.

H Irish Tune from County Derry/Shepherd's
Hey—Percy Grainger/arr. Kent. Performable
either together or separately, the first selection
(more commonly known by the title Danny Boy) is a
masterful example of the pure beauty of sound and
melody, while Shepherd's Hey is a sprightly dance.

Liberty Fanfare—John Williams/arr. Bocook. One
hundred years after the dedication of the Statue of
Liberty in 1886, John Williams was commissioned
to compose a fanfare for the re-dedication
ceremony. At this event, Mr. Williams led the
Boston Pops Orchestra in the first performance of
this work, which the composer described as a group
of American airs and tunes of his own invention.

l Lincolnshire Posy—Percy Aldridge Grainger/
H arr. Frederick Fennell & R. Mark Rogers. This new
2020 revision addresses errors found in previous
editions and follows Grainger's scoring practices
and concept of instrumental color more closely.
Along with Percy Grainger's wonderful material,
the added bonus of the explicit editing and notes
from the definitive interpreter of the work, Dr.
Frederick Fennell, makes this a must-have for
performance and for study. It is this work that has
literally been responsible for inspiring thousands of
aspiring musicians to become directors of bands,
orchestras, and choruses, thus fostering a lifetime
of love of and respect for music.

Liquid—Jay Bocook. A vivid depiction of the many
different sounds water can make all around us.
Opening with the sounds of raindrops, a series
of variations depict cascading waterfalls, flowing
rivers, crashing waves, and ripples on the surface
of a quiet lake.
11001677 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . . .125.00
Long May We Reign—Gavin Lendt. This piece
opens with a heroic and grandiose melody heralded
by the trumpets. Throughout, bits of a school song
are heard, first introduced by horns and later
passed through various sections and soloists; then
a new lyrical and uplifting melody is introduced by
the woodwinds. The opening fanfare, augmented
with percussion and low brass, returns to close in
flamboyant fashion.

Magic City Montage—Robert Sheldon. This
energetic overture allows us to enjoy the sparkling
skyline of Miami, also known as the Magic City,
from a speedboat on Biscayne Bay. This work is
light and cheerful with some great opportunities
to challenge your woodwinds' dexterity. The lyrical
section is energized by the brass, then the opening
tempo returns with a nod to Miami's vibrant
nightlife before taking us to our boat for the short
trip home. Electrifying!

H Mannin Veen—Haydn Wood. Originally published
in 1933, this outstanding tone poem, based on four
folk songs from the Isle of Man, is an outstanding
addition to any band library. Beginning with a
plaintive melody in the Dorian mode, then going
into a "fiddle tune," a very lyrical melody and then
a hymn, this is a superbly written work that is most
worthy of performance.

short four-movement work is based on traditional
dances that have each gone through an amazing
transformation to bring them roaring into the
21st century. Playable individually or all together,
the movements include the fun Polka, playful
Waltz, passionate Tango, and the whimsical and
energetic Cakewalk.

Metroplex—Robert Sheldon. A dazzling view of
the sites and sounds of a dynamic city. Opening is
a vision of the tall buildings and concrete canyons
of the New York skyline, followed by an urban jazz
scene in a club in Harlem. The close is a wild taxi
ride through the heavy traffic of this fascinating city.

Mark Rogers. One of the most famous of the
technical showpieces for the mature band!
Grainger ingeniously combines two Cork Reels,
Molly On The Shore and Temple Hill in a setting
which features Grainger's most brilliant writing
for winds. And making this edition even more
important is the full score, never before available,
which has been assembled by Mark Rogers.
Highly recommended!

H A Movement for Rosa—Mark Camphouse.
This emotional, moving work was written to honor
Rosa Parks, whose contribution to desegregation
still stands today. Not only are strength and
determination depicted, but also the harsh realities
of the times. An important work in the repertoire.
