We May Rise—arr. Preston Hazzard. This tender
melody was originally a choral work entitled All
Praise to Thee with text based on a chorale written
by Martin Luther and first published in 1524. This
wonderfully musical melody has been beautifully
reimagined for this outstanding work for wind
band. The wide variety of instrumental colors is
extremely effective in capturing and enhancing the
rich harmonies and haunting melody of the original.

J. Torian, Jr. This work is built on one of the
composer's most known canons and is a flowing,
musical representation of this classic. Soloists,
muted brass sections, and effective counterpoint

Hymn to the Fallen—John Williams/arr. Lavender.
"Saving Private Ryan," a gripping, powerful movie
depicting the horrors of World War II, is another
milestone in the years Steven Spielberg and John
Williams have been collaborating on films. Williams'
score includes this simple hymn, using chorus as
an instrument of the orchestra, adding a special
reverence and poignancy to the simple melody.
