Hip 5/4 blues sections are contrasted with a straight-ahead swingin' 4/4 blues, which gives this chart its unique appeal. There are plenty of opportunities for your soloists to improvise on 4/4 blues changes, or with the written suggested solos included. It will sound great with full or reduced instrumentation. Tired of the same old blues? 5.4 on the Richter Scale is a really fresh chart for your next concert! 10050244 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 H Abracadabra—Larry Barton. The magic of this slinky swinger will put your audience under a spell! The lead wind players start things out on the head, but before long the full band is jamming along. It's an "in your face" chart that's all about attitude! 2472521 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 H Autumn Leaves—Joseph Kosma/arr. Peter Blair. This is a great old tune! Except...there's nothing "old" sounding about it. It's a medium swing version of a marvelous, often-played standard that opens with an alto and trumpet duet and is filled with tight ensemble punches. The saxes are featured on a chorus and there is a written or ad lib solo for piano. 2406361 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Bad Dog!—Mike Dana. Here's a great opener, closer, or anything in between! This swinging shuffle features cool lines, surprising harmonies, great rhythm section hooks, and much more. Notated rhythm section parts, reasonable brass ranges, and flexibly written or improvised solo space make this chart a winner. Additionally, it has a nice feel, a fine harmonic structure, and a dynamic shout chorus. Scored for standard big band, it's also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation and includes a helpful guitar chord chart. No bad dogs here! 10999970 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H Big Noise from Winnetka—Haggart & Bauduc/ arr. Paul Lavender. Bring the sounds of Bob Crosby and the big band era to life again with this fun chart for younger players! It features an authentic sound, a flexible solo section and the saxes get to whistle the melody for added fun. A great experience for young players! 2481666 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H Buckjump—Andrews & Ballard/arr. John Wasson. Recorded by Trombone Shorty on his 2011 album For True and featuring the Rebirth Brass Band and 5th Ward Weebie, this hot tune has a funky New Orleans style groove with a moderate tempo and catchy riffs. The trombones get the spotlight to start with, followed by tight ensemble playing and later space for an improvised or written trombone solo. This chart is cool, confident and colorful! Highly recommended! 10556780 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 By George—Paul Baker. This fun swinger introduces rhythm changes to younger players. A strong dialogue between brass and saxes sets the tone early before the saxes take the melody. The written alto sax solo is based on Charlie Parker's solo on Moose the Mooch. The written trumpet solo is based on solos of Ella Fitzgerald and Bud Powell. The shout section opens with the horns trading fours with the bassist (written bass solo provided). 11349289 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Dig Them Georgia Peaches—Ed Gaston. Based around the chord changes to Sweet Georgia Brown, this original chart alternates between a half-time shuffle and swing. Excellent use of unison writing. Written solos for tenor sax and trumpet. A hip and accessible chart! 11343826 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 Diggin' the New Digs—Michael Giacchino/arr. Paul Murtha. From the entertaining soundtrack of "Incredibles 2" comes this marvelous jazz waltz that works great for full jazz band. Baritone sax gets a rare turn in the spotlight, followed by the brass section with sax answers. The solo section can feature any combination of alto sax, trumpet, or trombone with suggested or improvised solos. A fun change of pace and highly recommended! 10960664 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H Don't Get Around Much Anymore—Ellington & Russell/arr. Mark Taylor. One of the classic trademark tunes from the Duke Ellington library, this familiar jazz standard is solidly scored for younger players by Mark Taylor. When it comes to accessible charts in a medium swing style, this one can't be beat! Highly recommended! 10427404 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Easy to Love—Cole Porter/arr. Paul Baker. A fast swing chart played on a great jazz standard, it features a great sax section soli, plenty of tutti ensemble, and written-out solos provided for piano (or vibes) and alto (or trumpet). Lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff. It's "easy to love" this chart! 11355026 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H Flight of the Foo Birds—Neal Hefti/arr. Peter Blair. This Peter Blair chart on the Neal Hefti/ Count Basie classic is a wonderful adaptation for younger jazz groups. It does its Basie thing with a light and cool swing feel, includes nice changes in texture, has brief written or ad lib solos for alto sax and trumpet 2, and an outstanding shout chorus with drum fills. Played at 156 bpm, the trumpet 1 range is up to written G on top of the staff, and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. Great tune, great chart! 10513893 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H Hay Burner—Sammy Nestico. From the Basie-Straight Ahead album of 1968 featuring the legendary Count Basie, Harold Jones, Grover Mitchell, Marshall Royal, and Freddie Green. Highlights here include a recurring alto sax/trumpet duet, a sax section soli, trumpet plungers, piano solos, and an ensemble shout to take it all home. The rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. The genius of Count Basie and Sammy Nestico! 544684 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 I'm Getting Sentimental Over You—George Bassman/arr. Mark Taylor. Long recognized as the signature song for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, here is a beautifully arranged setting for young jazz ensembles. In a slow Basie-style swing, this chart features plenty of full ensemble scoring, modest brass ranges, a solo for trumpet, and a brief sax soli in double-time feel. 10960662 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H Jumpin' at the Woodside—Count Basie/ arr. Rich DeRosa. This one just builds and builds! Rich DeRosa keeps this Count Basie signature tune swinging all the way and includes two optional tag endings to keep the Basie style intact. The solos are written out for piano, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone and the lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff with an A on the optional tag ending. Optional parts are included for expanded instrumentation. One of the Count's finest! 10028198 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 H Moanin'—Bobby Timmons/arr. Mark Taylor. Your piano player will get some well-deserved attention in this familiar Bobby Timmons' chart. The quality of Mark's arranging on this really lets you sell it! 2445690 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 My Little Suede Shoes—Charlie Parker/arr. Mark Taylor. This chart uses a light samba feel to craft a marvelous setting of this Charlie Parker standard for the Little Big Band format. Perfectly scored tutti ensemble figures are contrasted with feature spots for a duet of alto sax and trumpet. Easy flowing rhythms and modest ranges make this one easy to learn! A great choice! 11208483 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Orange Sherbert—Sammy Nestico. Originally recorded in 1975 by Count Basie and titled because Basie loved orange sherbert, this fresh setting features easy registers, strong jazz figures, and a bright, free swinging style. A written or ad lib trumpet solo in the midsection and an ensemble shout before the final chord are highlights. The rhythm section parts are notated with chords cued, and a guitar chord chart is included. 2341741 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H Sing, Sing, Sing—Louie Prima/arr. Victor Lopez. Yep, this is the Sing, Sing, Sing you know and love, made famous by Gene Krupa and the Benny Goodman Orchestra, only arranged for young players by Victor Lopez. The classic drum solo that can be opened up for as much excitement as the crowd can stand, along with a written-out tenor solo, reasonable brass ranges and lots of meaty ensembles keep this great chart exciting. It will also sound full with reduced instrumentation or with the optional, non-jazz band parts. It's still a showstopper!
