Written in the style of the classic film noir crime dramas of the '40s and '50s, this incredibly hip original chart is an excellent and fresh addition to the jazz ensemble repertoire. A cool, swinging hi-hat that leads into a hip figure on guitar, bass, piano, bari sax, optional vibes, and harmon muted trumpets sets up the atmosphere perfectly. The chart develops into a hard-swinging ending! Written solo for alto sax. 11343834 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Foundation Issues—Paul Baker. This hard- swinging 12-bar blues features acoustic bass in a Thad Jones-inspired setting. It cooks right along and the ensemble provides solid support for the bass soloist. At a tempo of 140 bpm, this chart provides a very accessible opportunity for the unsung hero of the rhythm section to shine. Soprano sax leads the sax section. A unique and very cool trombone section plus bass soli is wrapped between solos for trumpet, soprano sax and bass before heading into the shout chorus. Brass ranges: trumpet to written high C and trombone to G-flat. Bass features are hard to find, and this one is outstanding! 10999402 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 Honeysuckle Rose—Thomas "Fats" Waller/ arr. Paul Baker. Here's a swingin' jazz classic played around 156 bpm with written suggested solos provided for alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 with cues for piano and trumpet 1. The sax soli, drum fills, a few familiar quotes, along with well-notated rhythm section parts all come together to create a fine chart that will make developing groups shine. A nice swing chart done well! 10997198 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H In the Mood—Joe Garland. This Glenn Miller classic is a must for every jazz band library! Carefully edited and available with a full score, this arrangement has everything you need to recreate the original including a trumpet solo, and a short call-and-response passage between the alto and tenor saxes. It's a guaranteed crowd-pleaser! 2090959 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)—Duke Ellington/arr. Ralph Ford. You may think this very clever chart is all swing, but it begins as Latin then alternates with a swing feel. The tempo is bright at around 190-200 bpm with suggested solos for trumpet and tenor sax, a few piano montunos, and a big shout chorus leading to a huge ending closing this fine chart appropriately. Additional wind parts and a vibes part are included for optional expanded instrumentations. Highly recommended! 10756380 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 27 Reward your key players with the opportunity to shine with one or more of these great solo features. They offer a solo part all the way through with ample support from the ensemble. Aria—Rick Lawn. As the title suggests, this is a beautiful melodic feature for alto sax. In addition to the haunting tune, there are subtle supportive ensemble figures that weave a rich fabric of accompaniment and include flugelhorns and cup mutes in the trumpet section. The improvised solo needs only two scales - concert D harmonic minor and E-flat major. An ensemble chorus follows the solo section and leads to a cadenza before a slower, more dramatic close. A great opportunity to feature your alto player! 11207700 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .M 50.00 Blue Diamond—Gregory Yasinitsky.
