From the comic opera filled with pirates, Turkish princes, kidnapping and daring rescues, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio is the piece of music that generated the (possibly fictional) "too many notes" story. It is written in the Turkish "janissary" style, a style of music that fascinated Europe at the time. In this arrangement, the right hand of the piano is frequently written 8va to help re-create the piccolo that figured prominently in the original. 10185412 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 10185413 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Andante Festivo—Jean Sibelius/arr. James Richards. Originally composed for string quartet in 1922, Andante festivo was rescored by the composer in 1938 for string orchestra with timpani. Broad lyrical phrases explore a wide range of dynamic contrast, phrasing, bow distribution, and orchestral color. 11200907 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 11200908 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 14.00 H Brandenburg Concerto No. 3—J.S. Michael Hopkins. The overture to La Forza Del Destino was composed when Italian composer, Giuseppe Verdi, revised his opera for a performance at La Scala in 1869. This arrangement captures the full range of thematic contrasts and emotion present in the original and will be challenging and rewarding for developing orchestras. Verdi intended the opening agitated theme to represent fate, and this melodic them unifies many different thematic ideas in the overture. A musical metaphor for the force of destiny - chaotic on the surface, yet logical and coherent in the depth of its design. 11171008 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 11171009 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.00 Larghetto and Allegro—George Frideric Handel/arr.
