108 PRODUCTION NOTES by Deborah Craig-Claar The Jesus Gift was created to not only celebrate God's gift to us at Christmas, but to once again offer the opportunity for us to give Jesus the gift He desires most – our hearts. With these production notes, we hope to spark your own creative ideas in bringing this timeless story and message to life. Although The Jesus Gift was designed to be a cover-to-cover presentation, there is also enough flexibility in the musical so that you can add additional elements to customize the presentation for your ministry and community. Extended Programming A musical with a central theme of "gift" is a perfect vehicle for some extended church events. If your church is involved with mission support, The Jesus Gift can be used to help initiate a campaign to support missionaries here and abroad. The musical can also be used as an outreach to those in need in your community. During the songs "The Jesus Gift" or "Christmas Glory" at the conclusion of the musical, ushers may collect donations of canned food, old sweaters and coats, or toys. Perhaps the most meaningful activity would be to ask your congregation to bring a "gift for Jesus" to the program and place it in a special designated area. Put no parameters on the gift – simply ask that it be from the heart. The results are sure to be inspirational. The Use of Media An excellent Accompaniment DVD has been created to enhance your presentation of The Jesus Gift. Combining contemporary and Biblical images and lyrics, this resource will provide a first-note-to-last visual portrait of the Christmas events depicted in the musical. Although the DVD has been designed to play straight through, you may elect to pause it between songs to add additional material. Your decision to use the Accompaniment DVD will impact all of your other production
