This rousing arrangement of the popular South African freedom song has become a standard in the choral repertoire. With call-and-response vocals, Xhosa text, and rhythmic percussion accompaniment, it transports the listener to South Africa, where the song is often referred to as the unofficial anthem of the country. It was used in the soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated movie "Invictus," and served as South Africa's battle call at the 2010 World Cup. This is essential multicultural programming! 10276407 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 2.80 3304220 TTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 3.00 Tuba—arr. Michael Barrett. This South African song is believed to have originated during the difficult Apartheid years and performed as a peaceful protest song. Tuba is translated as "a dove," and the call and response texture makes reference to the story of Noah and the dove that brought an olive branch after the great flood to signify that the worst is over. The baritone soloist presents the initial melody while the choir builds the harmonic structure in rhythmic excitement. Improvised percussion and vocal ululation are encouraged! 10882560 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 2.80 10882562 TTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 2.80 Tue, Tue—arr. Ruth Morris Gray.
