Inscription of Hope—Z. Randall Stroope. A
profoundly moving text, written on a cellar wall
during the rise of Nazi Germany, joins with original
music to create a deeply emotional expression of
hope. With brief narration and the echo of a Russian
folk melody, this is an important contribution to the
concert repertoire for more discerning choirs!

Irish Country Dance—Kirby Shaw. This cheerful
a cappella original reimagines the sound of
bagpipes with vocables, making it really fun to
sing. After a hearty opening statement, the piece
becomes an up-tempo 6/8 Celtic dance in minor.
Jazzy harmonies, independent vocal lines, and
modal touches add plenty of interest.

One of the Trois chansons folkloriques which also
includes Un Canadien errant and Les raftsmen, this
Quebecois folk song was originally known in France
as Mon pere a fait batir maison. The quickly moving
French text and pure bell-like tone quality along with
the virtuosic piano accompaniment make this a real
showpiece for choirs. The piano accompaniment is
available separately and does not appear in the
choral octavos. A separate conductor's full score is
also available that includes the choral parts, piano
accompaniment, and the optional percussion part.

Juntos—Jim Papoulis. Here is a Jim Papoulis
original in the style of a Spanish folk song. The words
sing of the strength and power we feel when we learn

powerful expression of unity, or "unidad."

form of speechmaking used to unite the collective
will of the people. This is an impressive cross-
cultural selection for your choir!

Kuimba Nafsi Yangu—Jacob Narverud. Kuimba
Nafsi Yangu is a celebratory song derived from
common Swahili phrases of joy: "Sing my soul,
sing my heart. Sing for peace, sing for joy. There
is so much love here, yes!" Intended as a concert
opener or closer, this spirited piece is pure energy
from start to finish as the piano and djembes drive

Kusimama—Jim Papoulis. Kusimama is written
in a world-music style that is accessible for choirs,
both young and old, that are just beginning to be
exposed to world rhythms and language - a sort
of introduction to new languages, syllables, body
percussion and style. The text in both Swahili and
English is about standing tall on the earth, not
with anger or aggression, but with hope, strength,
acceptance, and positivity. The voices, along with
hand claps, stomps, djembe, shaker and piano, all
combine for an exciting world-music presentation.
