folk tunes from the British Isles. They're tunes
that almost everyone knows and loves, and Larry
Daehn's skillful arrangement is very attractive and
very playable by bands at this level. You'll really
be able to develop this piece to its finest for your
next program! Includes: Marching Song (Britons,

of Harlech); Barbara Allen; and Farewell Dundee

By Lantern's Light—arr. Michael J. Miller. This
medley of Persian folk songs uses Clair Fairchild's
Twelve Persian Folk Songs as its basis. Fairchild
took care to preserve their authenticity by limiting all
Western harmony, and as a result, performers may
be challenged by the need to replicate the songlike
phrasing of the lines, rhythmic integrity, and the
style of the accompaniment. Essential to the
performance is getting the players to understand
that many inflections exist beyond what is written
on the page. Endless educational opportunities.

fanfare and irresistible rhythmic drive brings the
entire piece to a powerful conclusion.

the most popular Greek dance, characterized by a
grand accelerando."My Big, Fat Greek Wedding"
and the spin-off television show has made Greek
culture familiar to audiences everywhere, so it's a
great time to program captivating Greek folk music!

If You Believe—Adi Leon/arr. Noam Inbar. A
catchy and fresh arrangement of a Hebrew dance
song with Hasidic and Middle Eastern influences
that is part of almost every "simcha's" (a Jewish
celebration) playlist. "It is a big mitzvah to always
be happy," is sung in unison by the band members
in the middle of the arrangement, which adds
an element of surprise to the performance (the
melody with a transliterated version of the phrase
for non-Hebrew speakers appears on each part).
