has a medieval sound. It gets its name from the
West Highland Railway in Scotland that goes from
the city of Glasgow north to the beautiful and scenic
Highlands. The main theme, played in upper and
lower strings, and the descant in the first violin part
are intended to evoke the experience of journeying
the Iron Road to the lush and pastoral Highlands.

Jasmine Flower—arr. Douglas Wagner. Here is
a very beautiful setting of the traditional Chinese
folk song Molihua. This tune is a vital part of
Chinese New Year celebrations and was featured
at the 2004 Summer Olympics. The soothing
pentatonic melody is reminiscent of the simple
beauty of the lovely white jasmine blossom and its
delightful scent. Players will encounter no technical
impediments in performance. The independent
piano accompaniment and optional percussion
create the perfect musical landscape for this
