MULTICULTURAL RESOURCES
Multicultural Instruments Jeopardy—
Abigail Mettry. Introduce your students to
world instruments! Instrument performances
are embedded within the slides, and the
scoreboard automatically updates as students
earn points for identifying which instrument
they hear. Students choose from one of the
categories (Japan, Africa, China, Spain, India),
then listen to an audio performance. If they
answer correctly, a 'cheering' sound effect
plays, and a funny 'blooper' sound effect if
they are not! There is also an option to play
a video of that particular instrument in a live
performance, or wait until the end of the game,
and then watch all the performances!

Rainbow Songs—Joan Capafons. This
songbook allows children to explore, sing,
and play traditional children's songs of the
United States using the colors of the rainbow.
Each song is written in standard notation with
lyrics and chords and is also presented with
colors instead of notes - similar to the colors
of Boomwhackers, student handchimes, or
rainbow-colored glockenspiels. This departure
from Suzuki and Orff pedagogy puts the student
at the center of learning and engages them in
musical understanding through positivity and
play that takes children, whether in a group
or individually, on a musical journey through
the senses. The teacher's edition includes
enough stickers to code 20 instruments. Free
digital download of instrumental version and
instrumental with vocals available. ePub files
require an ePub reader.
