Vulcan's Forge (for any combination of
instruments)—Patrick Roszell. A musical
portrait of the imposing Vulcan, ancient Roman
god of fire and metalworking, this strident and
impressive piece brings this mythical figure to life.
Accessible to students in the second half of their
first year of instruction. In addition to the powerful
scoring, the piece also presents the option for
young woodwind players to learn trill technique.
This flexible version comes with supplemental
parts and permission is granted to photocopy
as needed. A percussion accompaniment track
is also available as a free download. String
parts have been edited with extra fingerings and
bowings to support students in mixed ensembles
playing in less familiar keys.
