KATE: ZACH: KJ: KATE: SAMMIE: KATE: (they all pounce on the materials, and begin to talk and write excitedly, ignoring SAMMIE) OLIVIA: SAMMIE: KATE: SAMMIE: Speaking of hurrying, we have to get some work done around here! Now that we have our first interview recorded, we need to transfer the data onto charts. You know, the library has a subscription to a genealogy website that might be just what you need. It has downloadable charts and research tips—you can even upload old family photos. That sounds great, Mrs. McKee. Where's Sammie? She's supposed to be getting us some paper. (calling loudly) Sammie! Oops! Sorry! Library! Uh…(in a stage whisper) Sammie! (to KJ) Hey, did you see the end of the soccer playoff last night? Yeah! (begins speaking like a sports commentator) "6 seconds on the clock, Bryce kicks the ball right past the outstretched hands of the goalie for the game-winning score!" (both boys begin reenacting the celebration – cheers and high-fives) Could someone go find Sammie? (struggles in slowly from stage right, loaded down with paper, pencils, art supplies) Here I am. It's about time. Now let's get to work. I believe it would be best to begin with the present, and work backwards. (hesitantly) I thought maybe you could… (louder) I thought maybe. . . Sammie, can't you see we're trying to work? (she turns back to the group and resumes work) (totally frustrated) I just thought you might like my idea, but you're not even listening! Nobody ever listens.
