This outstanding shuffle chart sounds like a big old freight train coming down the tracks, and it just builds and builds! There's a wonderful section after the optional solos that features a powerful sax soli without the rhythm section, and there are great breaks for piano and drums throughout. There are also some independent bari sax lines and optional written solos for alto, tenor and guitar. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff and there's an optional ending with lead trumpet notes up to C. This is a hot chart! Our highest recommendation! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10068803 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10084691 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 11.00 Sing, Sing, Sing—Louis Prima/trans. Mike Lewis. Here it is...perhaps the most recognizable swing tune of all time! This incredible transcription is as close as you're going to come to the original (which included clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass). This chart is scored for a standard 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm, but aside from that, it is the original as played by Benny Goodman. Every lick is there, including all the Gene Krupa drum breaks! This chart is a must for every big band's library! 2411486 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 5828017 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 11.00 Sir Duke—Stevie Wonder/arr. Michael Mossman. In 1977 Stevie Wonder was in his prime and Sir Duke was on top of the charts. Michael Philip Mossman takes this familiar hit and adds his own unique touch. The opening features the brass with sax section fills. The middle section goes into a double-time swing and includes a solo for tenor sax, a soli for the saxes, and a drum break. All the familiar lines from the original are there too! Suggested solos are included along with scale/ chord sheets in all keys. Highly recommended! 10297508 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10297509 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Spain—Chick Corea/arr. Paul Jennings. Paul Jennings' masterful arrangement from 1982 has stood the test of time and sounds as fresh today as it did when it was written. The authentic sounds of Chick Corea's classic are faithfully captured - and this new edition, notated in cut time rather than 4/4, makes it much easier to read. A real gem for every jazz ensemble! 2101111 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 4942389 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Take Five—Paul Desmond/arr. Rich DeRosa. Perhaps the most famous time chart of all, Take Five is in 5/4 - but the rhythmic pattern is clear and consistent throughout. You'll find this arrangement very accessible, with easy alto sax and drum solos plus modest brass ranges. This chart features a more laid-back style than the original and is sure to be just as important today as was in the 1960s. Recommended for every jazz enthusiast! 10049802 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10049803 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Erik Morales. Wow! If Nat Adderley could hear this chart on his iconic jazz standard, he would be pleased! The first statement stays very close to the original, which is a good thing. The solos are for written or improvised alto and trumpet, and the solo backgrounds are simply wonderful. This swinger plays well at about 176 bmp, has excellent full- ensemble passages, a bari sax and rhythm section break before the last chorus, an exciting shout chorus, and great development. This chart has it all! Our highest recommendation! 10513905 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10513906 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 11.00 M E D I U M - A D VA N C E D Caravan—Duke Ellington/arr. John Wasson. Recently featured in the motion picture "Whiplash," this barnburner by outstanding arranger John Wasson is pure Latin fire from start to finish! This chart will have your students begging to practice. With the opportunity for an extended alto sax solo, this Rolls Royce of an arrangement is definitely top-notch! 2402725 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 5741962 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.00 El Abrazo—Alan Baylock. The beautiful ballad beginning and ending in this Alan Baylock original will bring tears to your eyes. The chart then moves to an exciting samba around 110 bpm for the half note with occasional swing sections interspersed. The lead trumpet range is to written high C and there is an extended tenor sax solo with chord changes. You won't forget this chart, it's special in every way. A truly stunning chart, this one will provide plenty of opportunities for your band to shine - it's the perfect festival chart. Highly recommended! 10593791 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 10593792 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.00 La Fiesta—Chick Corea/arr. Michael Mossman. Here is a sizzling Afro-Cuban version of this Chick Corea classic that is sure to be an impressive addition to any concert or festival program for mature bands. Perfect as a feature for your pianist, but the flexible solo section allows other players to be featured as well. Highly recommended! 10098727 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 10098735 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.50 La Suerte de los Tontos—Johnny Richards/ arr. Victor Lopez. Victor Lopez, who knows the Latin idiom inside and out, has given us a powerhouse 6/8 Latin chart that will make your ensemble sound like the Kenton Band. It's majestic, powerful and noble and includes written solo space for tenor sax and an optional Latin percussion part. Optional parts are included for flute, horn in F, baritone/tenor sax and tuba. This is a "must-have" chart with pure excitement from beginning to end! 10049728 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10049729 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 Moanin'—Charles Mingus/arr. Sy Johnson. This is an awesome Mingus double-time swing chart in the original version as recorded on the Mingus Big Band 93 CD. It kicks off with a hot bari sax intro, features some really tight licks, an extended open solo section, and an infectious bari sax line that drives the whole piece. Serious jazz for serious bands! 2388650 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 5627443 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.50 Samantha—Sammy Nestico. Originally written for and played by Bud Shank, this showpiece for alto sax features a wide dynamic range and calls for a soft, smooth approach to background figures. Although written solo lines are provided throughout, the main solo chorus includes chord changes for players with improvisation chops. The chart closes out with a solo cadenza over a sustained ensemble chord. 10283500 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 10283501 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 Whiplash—Hank Levy/arr. Erik Morales. Featured in the 2014 movie "Whiplash," depicting the relationship between an ambitious student musician and an abusive, yet respected instructor, this chart is a super-exciting work in 7/4 composed by Hank Levy and arranged by Erik Morales. Don't be intimidated by the meter... it's challenging, but after a few minutes it feels quite natural and the students will totally groove on it. The melody is stated by 2nd trumpet and 1st alto with solo space for both on easy chord changes. Articulation is critical and the rhythm section may want to spend some quality time together. The lead trumpet range is to written D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable chart to have in your library. You won't regret playing Whiplash! 10068794 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 10096346 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.00 21 PATRIOTIC SELECTIONS America, the Beautiful—Samuel A. Ward/arr. Chris Sharp. Here is the familiar America, the Beautiful reimagined as an energetic shuffle. An a cappella sax soli chorale introduction gives way to a driving shuffle that continues for the remainder of the chart. Harmon-muted trumpets provide extra color in spots. The ranges and rhythmic responsibilities are moderate, and there's written or improvised solo space for tenor sax. This arrangement is appropriate for civic events, patriotic celebrations or as an interesting change-up for festival/ adjudication program. This one is really nice! 10910610 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 American Patrol—arr. Mike Lewis. Glenn Miller's band made this a huge World War II hit song and here it is scored for young players. This chart has no individual solos, very modest brass ranges and plenty of ensemble sound. Easy to rehearse and perform, it swings right along and is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation. A winner! 10028059 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 Battle Hymn of the Republic—William Steffe, Julia Ward Howe /arr. All ensemble with the whole band working together to produce a determined, yet happy and swinging performance including a kickin' sax soli and hot shout chorus. 11313813 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
