"Eneza upendo uendako, umoja ni upendo" translates to "Spread love everywhere you go, unity is love". South African composer Franco Prinsloo brings us this beautiful setting of a sacred text in the Afrikaans language for treble choirs. This Malay folk song about a pony fish has a short melody made up of only four notes, but the song is brought to life by the expressions and metaphors in the poem. Brad Richmond. This traditional South African song celebrates life and the paradise that is to come. This is a traditional Korean children's song based on nature. Jamjari means "dragonfly" and kkongkkong is an expression that means "to freeze, to stop in place." Children in South Korea would sing this song while chasing dragonflies, in hopes that a dragonfly would freeze in place to make it easier to catch. This arrangement begins with the original folk song, then continues with a modified version of the melody. Inspired by the composer's trip to Guatemala, this original selection celebrates the culture of its inspiration. With a truly authentic spirit, it includes rainstick and flute that represent the native sounds of the forest, along with traditional vocal calls and a driving rhythm that reinforces the joyous healing of the Spanish lyrics. This popular South African song is an isiZulu hymn with a very simple text. The emphasis on the syllable "shu" creates a percussive sound which, along with the syncopated melody lines and rhythmic vitality, creates a fun and exciting celebration through music where each part has the opportunity to shine.
