All Things Are Mine Since I Am Yours—
David Lantz III. A slight rewording of the
ending of the hymn How Can I Keep from
Singing provides the inspiration for this
otherwise original text. "All things are mine
since I am His" becomes a bit more personal
by changing "His" to "Yours." This beautiful
yet very simple piece can be learned in one
short rehearsal. There is ample two-part
writing, an opportunity for a soloist, an easy,
lyrical piano part, and lush four-part writing in
the key moments of the anthem.

Awake, My Soul—Elaine Hagenberg. A
brilliant, pulsating piano introduction announces
the dawn and invites the voices to join with
escalating calls to "Awake, my soul!" As the
pulsing continues, the vocal counterpoint gives
way to the chordal acclamation, "I will awaken
the dawn!" This setting of Psalm 57:8-11
requires an above average accompanist and
an energetic choir, but the artistic result will be
worth the effort.

Created in Christ Alone—Mary McDonald.
This powerful ballad anthem encourages us to
be the body of Christ in all of our actions since
we are created in His image. After a more
subdued opening, it gradually builds in intensity
toward the proclamation: "As Christ has loved,
we also should love." The vocal writing is very
approachable, and the strong accompaniment
adds color and support.
