Down the Silver Road—Sarah Quartel.
This selection is a comforting and uplifting
setting of the poem To F.W. by Edith Franklin
Wyatt, which describes the joy of growing
old with a companion. It was premiered by
the choir of Nazareth College, New York at
a concert specifically for individuals living
with Alzheimer's or other dementias and their
families and caregivers. Alongside the flowing
lyrical melodies is a simple vocal part that can
be taught to audience members who may be
encouraged to join in when it occurs.

your dreams, you dreamers. Bring me all of your
Heart melodies, that I may wrap them in a blue
cloud cloth away from the too-rough fingers of
the world..." Use conga drums to enhance the

and singing have been my refuge, and music
and singing shall be my light..."

Everyday imagery comes to life; pictures

its poetry and sonority also work well for older
treble groups.

fly away. Sensitive and touching.

treble concert work, capturing the contrasts in
the text and offering the singers a chance to
dramatically express these important concepts.
There's a great piano accompaniment, too!
