CONCERT BAND Order Toll Free! Call 1.800.345.6296 / w: jwpepper.com / e: [email protected] 15 Go to cart CONCERT & CONTEST very easy The Tears of Arizona (Pearl Harbor Remem- bered)—Brian Balmages. Commissioned to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the music begins very solemnly, referring to the "tears" of oil that continue to be shed daily by the sunken ship. The section The Pride of Arizona moves past the tears and to the pride of the crew members and the feeling of the "spirit of aloha." Percussion loosely imitates the groove of a luau, yet is juxtaposed with moments of pause and reflection. The final statement feels incomplete, reminding the audience that the tears have not stopped flowing. Magical! 10607812 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 The Tempest—Robert W. Smith. This exciting work is guaranteed to make your beginners sound like pros! The brass has a strong, rugged sound underneath rhythmic woodwind ostinatos, and the piece easily comes together to display all the fury of a tempest! This would make a great opener for any young band concert, and your audience will be amazed at how good The Tempest makes your group sound! 2321453 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .56.00 The Lizard King—Aaron McMichael. This beginning band composition, inspired by the composer's son's fascination with lizards, uses at most eight notes in each instrument's range and is designed for use at the end of the first year of instruction. Featuring many opportunities for dynamics and articulation development, this piece will help your musicians to develop these essential skills. With plenty of percussion parts to keep players interested and every section playing the melody, this is sure to become a student favorite! 11516675 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .53.00 The Lone Knight—Adam Arnold. In the Middle Ages, knights were bound by chivalry - a religious, moral, and social code of conduct they were sworn to uphold. Musically depicting the essence of bravery as a solitary knight gallops across the landscape to the aid of the defenseless, this bold and heroic work unsheathes its sword and clashes with the foe in a thrilling battle of good versus evil. This work calls for four timpani with no pitch changes and reinforces part independence in the low brass. 11521819 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .75.00 Three Minutes to Midnight—JaRod Hall. It's a race against the clock in this unique musical countdown that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. The tension-filled sounds include moments of eerie apprehension which increase in tension as they build into heavy, raucous statements with great intensity. The Dies Irae theme pops in and out of the texture, introducing a sinister motif that indicates something much darker. Unique and colorful! (2:40) 11511692 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .70.00 Thrill Ride—Brian Balmages. Fear, anxiety, adrenaline, and a sheer rush of excitement all take center stage in this musical roller-coaster ride. Percussion simulates the sound of the lift hill before the ride takes off in an action-packed series of drops, turns, and loops. Eventually the riders get their hands up in the air, reveling in unabashed joy before the car coasts to a stop. 11002274 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 Throne of Swords—Michael J. Miller. Just as the title suggests, this work for beginning band is as menacing as a throne made of swords! With its opening fanfare material, reinforcing space and style, this piece takes the audience on a musical adventure full of knights and wonder! Your band will ascend to greatness with this one! 11198604 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 Too Much Percussion!—Randall Standridge. According to Randy Standy, there's no such thing as too much percussion! This delightful pops work for young band provides a groovy vehicle for drumming fun for your percussionists and your wind players. A full band percussion feature, including a very special triangle moment for the conductor, makes this delightful work for developing musicians stand out from the pack. March to the beat of a different drummer at your next concert, and leave your audience wanting more! 11515779 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .60.00 Trois Danses Royales—John Dupuis. This collection of pieces written in the style of classical Western European court dances is presented in three movements that can be performed separately or as a whole suite. An excellent way to expose young players to the form and performance styles of the genre. 11501971 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 Tropical Winds—Kelly Dugger. Take your beginning band to a tropical island! Using simple patterns based on Carribean rhythms, this is an excellent lighter selection for your spring concerts. Low instruments are featured in the middle section, but all instruments have a chance to perform the melody. Have some fun introducing students to easy Latin rhythms while teaching about breathing and phrasing. 11516681 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .53.00 Up, Up, and Away—Erin Keeton-Howard. Whimsy and joy abound in this charming work. Inspired by her students, the composer uses ascending lines and playful percussion effects to create a wonderful piece that exudes positivity and imagination. Carefully scored to be accessible to younger players, this work for developing musicians serves as a wonderful introduction to 3/4 and programmatic writing. 11515781 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 Warrior's Path—Travis Weller. Performable by as few as five winds and four percussion, this beginning band composition depicts a lone warrior beginning a journey across an ancient land. This solitary warrior is joined by others on the way, and together they defend those who cannot defend themselves. Only a minute and a half long and using only the first six notes of the B-flat concert scale, this is a great choice for a second- semester concert and for bands with limited instrumentation. Use this to work on creating even articulations and to develop listening skills between the ensemble's members. A great choice for concert and contest. 11516685 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .53.00 Warriors of the 16th Empire—Randall Standridge. The second in the 16th Empire series, this installment focuses on providing students with a vehicle to master the two- sixteenths-one-eighth rhythms. Exotic scales, reduced ranges, and optional clarion notes for young clarinets add to the effect of this great teaching work. 11400068 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .60.00 When Summer's in the Meadow—arr. Randall D. Standridge. The title is taken from one of the most poignant and nostalgic lines of text in the Irish folk song Danny Boy, which is the basis for this expressive setting. The composer creates a dreamily beautiful presentation of this beloved song that is accessible to younger bands. The number of scoring elements and musical qualities elevate this approachable work to a high musical standard that bands at all levels will appreciate and enjoy. 11129830 Band Set & Score . . . . . . . .50.00 Wildcat in the Woods—Greg Fhiaras.
