percussion for this famous tune! A lazy intro

audience into a frenzy! This will go over big
for contest and festival performances, too!

Little Sunflower—Freddie Hubbard/
arr. Mike Kamuf. Jazz trumpeter Freddie
Hubbard has sadly passed on but his
wonderful music lives on. This wonderful jazz
standard is masterfully arranged and features
a haunting melody with an alternating bossa
and light funk groove. The solos are written
for piano, trumpet and tenor sax with modest
brass ranges and a sweet shout chorus. It's
been play-tested with great success and
is an excellent chart all around! Optional
expanded instrumentation.

Michele Fernandez. In a medium up-tempo
style, here is a great-sounding salsa version
of Erroll Garner's popular standard. Saxes

An alto sax solo is featured before finishing with
a joyous chorus for the brass. A nice twist on a

have been a staple of jazz music since the
days of Dave Brubeck, Johnny Richards,
and Hank Levy. This chart is written in 7/4
time with a consistent 4+3 subdivision of the
measure throughout. The melody is presented
by a frontline trio of tenor, trumpet, and guitar,
with written or improvised solos for tenor and
trumpet. A stop-time section gives the drummer
and optional Latin percussionist a chance to
solo, and then the full ensemble takes it out -
but not before a final statement by the soloists.
Rhythms, chord structure, tempo, and key are
kept simple to aid in learning this style. The
lead trumpet plays up to a high B-flat.

arr. Victor Lopez. Victor Lopez creatively sets
Jobim's great samba with an alternating and
brief swing feel. The tempo is around 158
bpm, and it's tasty with some clever quotes
you'll recognize. There's also a written or
improvised solo for tenor sax, a few piano
montuno interludes, accessible brass ranges,
and optional parts included for augmented
instrumentations. Add it all together and you've
got a fine samba chart. Highly recommended!
