Like Critical Mass, Honk begins with a cool sax section introduction, clearly placing your baritone saxophonist in the limelight, but without excessive technical demands. Everyone has interesting and challenging parts to play throughout and the modulation near the end gives it an extra, added lift. The solos are open and the backgrounds can be varied by instrumentation. This one is hot from beginning to end! Very highly recommended! 2702672 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .55.00 Hurricane Season—Troy Andrews/arr. John Wasson. This chart beautifully adapts the soulful lines and hypnotic groove for jazz ensemble in this nicely scored arrangement. 10522908 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 The Moment of Truth—Roger Schmidli. The alto soloist faces their "moment of truth" in this uplifting and funky feature that provides the soloist a chance to really show off their flair and energy. Starting with a fun yet relaxed opening, it isn't long before the chart leads into a punchy bridge section featuring the whole band.
