And Her Light Shines—
Christopher Kyle Green. Inspired by the human
quality of resilience in the midst of adversity,
this beautiful piece was written to honor a very
special music educator. Beautiful harmonies
suitable for the moderate to advanced ensemble
will fill your concert hall as the band honors
the female musicians and music educators in
our world. The unforgettable melody is shared
throughout the ensemble, providing a rich
musical experience for all.

Ascension—Randall D. Standridge.
This glorious lyrical work combines Nearer,
My God, to Thee with Be Thou My Vision in an
intriguing and powerful meditation on mortality
and beauty. With many emotional impacts and
delicate, serene settings, this work creates
moments of absolute faith contrasted with
episodes of doubt and wonder as the music
evolves in a reflection of life experience. (4:30)

Coming for to Carry Me Home
(A Juneteenth Reflection)—
arr. Justin Harden. Based on the spiritual Swing
Low, Sweet Chariot, this lyrical piece is a reflection
on the commemoration of Juneteenth. Opening
with a moving solo that can be played by any
instrument, it is expertly scored to maximize the
sound of your band and easily works as the lyrical
selection in any program. A beautiful tribute to the
heroes of pre-emancipation America.

Heartfelt—Chris Campbell.
Written to portray the purest expression of
feelings, this composition starts with a short
trumpet solo followed by upper-wind melodic
echoes. Written for more advanced bands with
limited instrumentation, the sparse scoring offers
listening, dynamic, and phrasing challenges that
are technically as well as emotionally rewarding.
An excellent work for developing these essential
musical skills and a unique program selection that
will interest performers and listeners alike.

Homeward Shores—Randall Standridge.
Inspired by the Great Lakes region, this cinematic
work will be a highlight of your next performance!
Beginning with gentle melodies, this work evokes
the mood of a waterscape at dawn. It then picks
up into a mixed-meter section before launching
into a jaunty jig as the musicians sail across the
lakes. The original theme returns in a powerful
statement as the workday ends and our band is
safe back in the harbor. Colorful orchestration,
playful rhythms, and memorable memories
combine to provide a challenging and rewarding
work for your next concert or festival!

Hope Springs Eternal—Robert Buckley.
"Hope springs eternal" is a line from an Alexander
Pope poem published in 1734. This composition
reflects the resilience of the human spirit. The
music is reverent and contemplative, with
emotional ebbs and swells, and eventually builds
to a stirring theme of hope and inner strength.

It Is Well...—Jason K. Nitsch. This longingly
beautiful rendition of the well-known hymn
tune uses lyrical motion and powerful climactic
moments to make a bold statement, begging

Jovian Farewell—Michael Sweeney.
This beautiful piece is a carefully paced
memorial work. The title refers to the planet
Jupiter, and the music incorporates the famous
chorale by Gustav Holst. The familiar melody
is hinted at early and then developed through
a series of layers and phrases with building
intensity. The full chorale emerges near the end,
then tapers peacefully to a tender close.

A Life Worth Living—Brian Balmages.
This powerfully lyrical work facilitates meaningful
discussions about self-worth, caring for others,
and much more. Using harmonies, colors, and
textures not often found in pieces at this level, this
emotional piece is playable by younger musicians
yet musically appropriate for any level ensemble.
Absolutely stunning. (5:00)

Lyric for Band—George Walker/
arr. Luci Disano. In 1946, George Walker was
still doing graduate work at the Curtis Institute
when he composed Lyric for Strings, which would
prove over the coming decades to become one of
the most performed and enduring string orchestra
works of the 20th century. This first-ever edition
for symphonic wind band was premiered by "The
President's Own" United States Marine Band.

Nessun Dorma—Gioachino Puccini/
arr. James Barnes. This aria from the final act
of Puccini's opera "Turandot" is one of the best-
known tenor arias in all of opera. It achieved pop
status after Luciano Pavarotti's 1972 recording of
it was used as the theme song of BBC television's
coverage of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy and
became the famous tenor's signature aria. This
unique arrangement for symphonic band faithfully
captures the beauty and richness of Puccini's
original orchestral scoring.

Northern Lights—Yukiko Nishimura.
The northern lights - aurora borealis - are the
subject of this stunning piece which weaves
together individual musical lines to create a
beautiful texture and sonority. The waves of light
are similar to the waveform of sound frequencies,
and these linear musical sequences depict that
concept. A spectacular work that will captivate
your students. (3:50)
