With fun trombone glissandos and quirky melodies, your students will have a great time with this one. 11398620 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Terry White. Cannonball Adderley made it famous, brother Nat composed it and now Terry White provides a terrific swing chart for younger jazz groups. It swings hard, features a catchy, easy to play melody, and is mature sounding. Suggested solos are provided for alto 1 and trumpet 1, plus there's a great interlude and shout chorus. Trumpet 1 top note is written F-sharp top line. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Highly recommended! 10303038 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .42.00 Ya Don't Say—Debra Stempien & Gregory Turner. Minor blues-based tunes are a staple of the jazz repertoire. Introduce your band to this form with this versatile medium-swing cooker. Idiomatic voicings are provided for the horns and rhythm section along with optional written solos for trumpet and alto sax. Your bass player will enjoy laying down the solid fundamental line, and your drummer will shine with a featured line as well. 11516188 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .45.00 Blues & Swing Medium-Easy 5.4 on the Richter Scale—Larry Neeck. 5.4 on the Richter Scale is an upbeat modern- sounding swing chart that really cooks! Hip 5/4 blues sections are contrasted with a straight-ahead swingin' 4/4 blues, which gives this chart its unique appeal. There are plenty of opportunities for your soloists to improvise on 4/4 blues changes, or with the written suggested solos included. It will sound great with full or reduced instrumentation. Tired of the same old blues? 5.4 on the Richter Scale is a really fresh chart for your next concert! 10050244 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .55.00 Abracadabra—Larry Barton. The magic of this slinky swinger will put your audience under a spell! The lead wind players start things out on the head, but before long the full band is jamming along. It's an "in your face" chart that's all about attitude! 2472521 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 Afternoon—Pat Metheny/arr. Bob Curnow. Here is a slow, swinging, lovely, warm, relaxed chart in the style of that famous Neal Hefti swing ballad! The arrangement is subtle and easy to play, and there are not a lot of pieces by Pat Metheny that swing in this way. The arrangement suggests flugelhorns throughout, although trumpets would work just fine. There is solo space for alto saxophone and trumpet/ flugel. Very nice! 10162086 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .55.00 Artistry in Rhythm—Stan Kenton/arr. Paul Murtha. Composed and recorded by Stan Kenton in the 1940s, Artistry in Rhythm became his signature and a true classic from the big-band era. Paul Murtha has skillfully adapted and truncated this for younger players while maintaining the flavor and energy of the original. Solo piano starts things off followed by the iconic trombone solo in the medium Latin section. The exciting double time swing section features the entire ensemble, then the maestoso theme returns to close things out. Impressive! 10374166 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 Attack of the Killer Tomatoes—arr. Ralph Ford. Crazy title? It's from the movie of the same name and is a tongue-in-cheek swing chart adapted from a much more difficult chart by Gordon Goodwin for his Big Phat Band. Arranged by Ralph Ford for developing players, it will be a hit with both the band and the audience. No improvised solos, just ensemble playing and some great section solis. This will be a fun chart for any performance! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071882 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .48.00 Autumn Leaves—Joseph Kosma/arr. Peter Blair. This is a great old tune! Except...there's nothing "old" sounding about it. It's a medium swing version of a marvelous, often-played standard that opens with an alto and trumpet duet and is filled with tight ensemble punches. The saxes are featured on a chorus and there is a written or ad lib solo for piano. 2406361 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 Back Online—Gregory Yasinitsky. Don't miss this swinging, shuffle blues chart for developing groups that cooks right off the top! Set at about 132 bpm, it features a full and hot saxophone section soli, a stop-time section leading into the solo, a written or improvised solo for trumpet, and a section that comes way down after the solos that feature the brass and then the full ensemble. It then opens up and really begins to swing! Additionally, it can be played with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Back Online is accessible for many bands and is highly recommended! 10568026 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .48.00 Backatown—Troy Andrews/arr. John Wasson. From Trombone Shorty's acclaimed CD Backatown, here is the hot title cut arranged for big band in a funky medium tempo. Combining the elements of New Orleans second line and contemporary rock styles, this unique chart features a blend of catchy riffs, solid ensemble passages, and stop-time breaks. There are short written or ad lib solos for trumpet and tenor. This chart exudes a spirited and unmistakable New Orleans swagger! 10490289 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .50.00 Bad Dog!—Mike Dana. Here's a great opener, closer, or anything in between! This swinging shuffle features cool lines, surprising harmonies, great rhythm section hooks, and much more. Notated rhythm section parts, reasonable brass ranges, and flexibly written or improvised solo space make this chart a winner. Additionally, it has a nice feel, a fine harmonic structure, and a dynamic shout chorus. Scored for standard big band, it's also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation and includes a helpful guitar chord chart. No bad dogs here! 10999970 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .48.00 Bags' Groove Little Big Band—Milt Jackson/ arr. Mark Taylor. Milt Jackson's signature blues tune has become a well-known jazz standard, and Mark Taylor's arrangement makes it sound great in this six horn, little big band format. Featuring a nice, medium swing feel, and the flexibility for open solos with backgrounds, this will be fun to perform and easy to prepare. Instrumentation: 3 Saxes; 2 Trumpets; 1 Trombone plus Rhythm Section. Optional parts are included for Alto and Tenor Saxes and Trombone. Suggested solos and chord/scale sheets are also included. Highly recommended! 10317260 Jazz Ensemble (Little Big Band). . . . . . . . . .45.00 BEST SELLERS Blues & Swing Medium-Easy Best Selling Charts!
