STRING ORCHESTRA Editors' Choice 2023 New Basic Library Available via ePrint Downloadable All Prices in U.S. Dollars & Subject To Publisher Revision 66 Go to cart LIGHT CONCERT easy / medium-easy Moonlight Tango—Richard Meyer. As the title indicates, this charming piece beautifully reinforces dotted rhythms and low-second patterns. Its lively dance-like character will be a popular addition to any concert occasion. 2301570 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .46.00 One Bow Concerto—Richard Meyer. Your audience will laugh out loud! A violinist, a violist and a cellist have soloist seats in front of the orchestra, and they share just one bow, passing it to one another just in the nick of time. The orchestra is all pizzicato, so there really is only one bow. "But a cellist shouldn't use a violin bow," you think. Right, so they stop passing it to him and the cellist shows what he thinks of that! By the end the bow is in the hand of the conductor. Recommended as a show-stopper! 2475422 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .62.00 Penguins on Parade—Susan H. Day. Picture the image of jolly and chunky penguins walking (or wobbling) in single-file across the snow! A wonderfully charming work for the developing string orchestra - students will love this one. 11403521 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .52.00 Percentage of Error (The Prince of Denmark March)—Jeremiah Clarke/arr. Bob Phillips. This arrangement of The Prince of Denmark March, or Trumpet Voluntary, provides the perfect setting for advocacy and striving for excellence since it is so recognizable. Three different versions of the final eight bars, containing incorrect notes, are included. Each version contains an increasing percentage of correct pitches. Each represents a different letter grade. Play all four versions and then explain to parents and administration that the A+, 100 percent correct version is what we do every day in orchestra. All sections play the melody in this piece, providing a solid musical setting in a novelty piece. (2:00) 11400584 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .50.00 Rock Bottom Boogie—Robert Longfield. Robert's new blues shuffle is a fun jazz ensemble-style tune, that lets your string orchestra perform something a little different. Easy swing rhythms in a comfortable key and tempo make it accessible for most groups. With a little creativity, you might want to open up a section for a young soloist to stretch out a bit. 10343653 String Orchestra, Percussion Required . . . . .40.00 Rock Riffs—Soon Hee Newbold. Hot rock original from Soon Hee Newbold! Exciting, grooving intro gives way to powerful riffs and updated phrasing. Fun for all your players. Drums optional. 10277841 String Orchestra, Percussion Optional . . . . . .45.00 The Sharks of Seville—Traditional/arr. Deborah Baker Monday. Brimming with intrigue and suspense, this exciting marriage of themes from "The Barber of Seville" with an iconic "shark in the water" motive will keep everyone on the edge of their seats. All Seville themes have been expertly adjusted for grade 1 students, and all recurring shark figures are well-fingered and easy to teach. 10520049 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .52.00 Spring Breezes—arr. Richard Meyer. Try this tender folk song from Taiwan to develop your students' sensitive and lyric style. Accompanied by lush, modern-sounding harmonies, the melody is passed to each section. The solos for violin and cello are at a medium-easy level and are accompanied by a prominent harp or piano part. Simply gorgeous! 2442762 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .48.00 TakaTiki—Katie O'Hara LaBrie. Reinforce simple sixteenth-note rhythms with this infectious Latin-style piece. The title, of course, is a play on the Kodaly counting system for sixteenth notes. Teaching materials are included to aid your students, but more than anything this piece is just plain fun! 11501899 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .60.00 Light Concert Selections Medium-Easy Ashokan Farewell (from "The Civil War")— Jay Ungar/arr. Calvin Custer. The simple, memorable theme from the acclaimed PBS series makes excellent concert fare. Calvin Custer's realistic treatment includes the easy violin solo, piano and percussion. This is technically quite easy, but very emotional. 2238723 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .54.00 Beethoven, Inc.—Ludwig van Beethoven/ arr. Richard Meyer. Hear what happens when Beethoven meets Mozart, Offenbach, Brahms, Handel, Bach, Saint-Saens and Rossini! This clever arrangement combines Ode to Joy with some of the most famous melodies in the classical repertoire. A great way to teach music history while playing music that's just plain fun! 2703085 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .55.00 Blazing Bows of the West!—arr. Michael Story. Giddyup! 10310462 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .64.00 Blue-Fire Fiddler—Soon Hee Newbold. This kickin' fiddle tune is energetic, exciting and fun. The fast and furious fiddling sounds much harder than it really is. Riffs, finger patterns and bowings are very idiomatic and lend themselves to fast playing. This is sure to be the hit of the concert! 2474322 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .60.00 Blue Rhythmico—Kirt N. Mosier. Like the title implies, there's a powerful rhythm and some jazzy blue notes, nothing subtle here! This original uses guitar-like riffs and a driving ostinato bass line in the low strings to build up to a powerful sound. 2481200 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .45.00 Bumps in the Night—Bud Woodruff. Ever wonder what those noises are at night when you're in the dark? This spooky piece uses minor-scale motifs and pizzicato effects to get your imagination going. Perfect for a fall or Halloween performance. 11392962 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .55.00 Chicken Foot Transplant—Matt Turner. Put on your dancin' shoes! This entertaining and infectious "Bo Diddley" groove offers a smorgasbord of blues, country fiddling and funk, with added flair by a drumset. There's even a solo section, which may be improvised or played as written. 10366544 String Orchestra, Percussion Required . . . . .55.00 Chicken Pickin'—Larry Moore. The sequel to the popular Rosin Eating Zombies From Outer Space! Students and directors will enjoy giving blood curdling screams, knocking on instruments, and bowing behind the bridge for that iconic "psycho sound." Pizzicato, tremolo, trills, munching noises, and zombie-talk are sure to be a scarily funny hit! 2472802 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .56.00 Double Trouble—Lauren Bernofsky. Here's a punchy teaching tune to make the key of D come to life! All the voices have fun with the edgy and rhythmic eighth note "double trouble" motif. Emphasis on accents and tight ensemble playing will make this a class favorite! 10091950 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . .45.00 Ear-igami—Richard Meyer. Ear-igami is a fascinating musical tribute to the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. Instead of a bow, each performer uses a piece of paper to make sounds and to "play" their instrument. Your audience will be entranced as they watch and hear the variety of effects possible in this charming set of pentatonic variations. A unique concert selection! 10066927 String Orchestra, Percussion Optional . . . . . .60.00 Folk Tune and Fiddle Dance—Percy Fletcher.
