Cape Cod Shanty—arr. Dan Adams. Centuries-
old sea shanties made the drudgery and
monotony of a sailor's work more tolerable.
Sung on the decks of merchant, fishing, and
whaling ships, these often colorful songs have
become an important part of our folk music
history. This is a full orchestra arrangement of
Cape Cod Girls, a call-and-response song with
some interesting lyrics. If you were seaman, you
surely would have sung many creative verses.

Elizabethan Carol—Arthur H. Brown/arr. Albert
O. Davis. This charming and harmonious arrange-
ment from Albert Oliver Davis is a wonderful choice
for a holiday concert. Solidly in the medium
grade of difficulty, it remains in the key of G
throughout. When Christ Was Born of Mary Free
was probably composed in 1859 and appeared
in the 1916 hymnal approved by the United
States Episcopal Church and in Christmas
Carols New and Old (1870, 1871, and 1878).
It was printed in at least seven hymnals over
the years. The lyrics are from a traditional carol
taken from a 15th-century Harleian manuscript.

Secrets of Dumbledore; Lally; Countersight;
The Room We Require and Hedwig's Theme.

Genesis—Rossano Galante. Written for
more advanced full orchestras, this stunning
original cinematic overture will transport your

musical journey that depicts the rebuilding of
humankind into a utopian society. The scene
is set with a dramatic, rhythmic ostinato joined
by the melody and builds to an intense peak
before slowly fading away. This piece provides
plenty of technical displays for your string
and woodwind sections as well as the perfect
opportunity to showcase the power and range

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen—arr. Albert
O. Davis. The traditional English carol God
Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is one of the oldest
extant carols, sung at least as early as the
16th century. This highly original adaptation
will make a welcome and unique addition to
your holiday program. The keys of G and D are
string friendly, and the technical demands are
very reasonable.

Kyiv, 2022 (A Sequel to Moscow, 1941.
Arranged for Symphony Orchestra)—Brian
Balmages. Written as a powerful sequel to
Moscow, 1941, this work changes the narrative,
where the theme from Moscow now represents
the aggressor, and the heroic people of
Ukraine are represented by the Ukrainian
National Anthem and the powerful song Prayer
for Ukraine. Certain to spark discussions about
humanity, history, and culture, this piece can
easily be performed alongside Moscow, 1941
or in place of it. All net proceeds of the initial
release are going to relief organizations on the
ground in Ukraine.

Land o' the Leal—arr. Dan Adams. A
collector of folk tunes, Lady Nairne (Carolina
Oliphant) undoubtedly chose the traditional
Scottish air "Hey, Tuttie, Tattie" as the setting
for her melancholy text because of its beauty
and simplicity. Also known as the melody to
Robert Burns' nationalistic "Scots Wha Hae",
the folk tune has been part of Scottish life for
centuries. Lady Nairne wrote her words upon
the passing of the only child of her friend, Mrs.
Archibald Campbell Colquhoun. In her setting,
Land O' The Leal is a reference to heaven,
where they will someday be reunited. This
orchestral arrangement of the old Scottish
tune hopes to capture the serenity and
hopefulness of her poem.

A Matador's Tale—Mark Lortz. With traditional
Spanish flair, this programmatic work depicts a
bullfight, beginning with the matador's fanfare
entrance. After the various stages of the fight,
the music comes to a rousing end. The many
doublings in this intermediate work allow
orchestras to play it with missing instrumentation.

Red—Robert W. Smith. This popular work
scored here for full orchestra is the first
movement from "Krisanna's Colors," a suite
inspired by the color choices used to describe
the daily emotions and moods of a terminally
ill child. Beginning with a somber solo and
choir, the mood quickly changes to bombastic
and extreme energy. For even greater effect,
consider programming it along with Blue,
Mvt. 2 (#11401002) and Yellow, Mvt. 3,
(#11401003). An excellent choice for your
concert or festival program!

Rites of Tamburo—Robert W. Smith.
Entrancing instrumental colors burst into
splashes of energy from the brass and rhythm
sections, biting dissonances abound, and a
constant surge of excitement flows through the
piece. There's even a measure where the brass
are invited to "pick-a-note" as they crescendo
into a resolving chord... a really neat effect!
