Gaudete!—arr. Michael Engelhardt. From Piae Cantiones,
this setting of Gaudete! is in a progressive style, yet well
suited to the medieval melody. Its energy is derived from the
accented rhythms and dance-like percussive elements, all
adding to the joyous nature of the piece. Percussion parts for
four players are available separately.

Gloria (from "Mariazeller Messe")—Joseph Haydn/ed.
Ryan Kelly. Haydn's eighth setting of the ordinary of the Mass
was composed in 1782 for performance in Mariazell, Austria.
The brief opening portion of the Gloria has been selected for
this anthem, featuring Haydn's exuberant, straightforward
homophonic choral writing true to the Classical period. The
accompaniment is an approachable orchestral reduction for
piano with optional trumpets and timpani. Accessible to most
ensembles, this anthem offers choirs the exciting opportunity
to sing an excerpt from a large-scale choral work.

God Will Give Orders/Sweet Child (from "Snow Angel")—
Sarah Quartel. Beginning with a mystical, ethereal feel with a
haunting optional cello line, this piece opens with lyrical choral
lines singing over a baby and promising heavenly protection
and care. The mood then shifts to a celebratory and rhythmic
feel with djembe, and eventually a quieter a cappella refrain
closes with the choir affirming the promise: "Sweet child,
you're the future... Sweet child, I will show you how to love."

Good King Wenceslas—arr. Russell Robinson. James
Mason Neal's 19th-century text tells the 10th-century tale
of a King from Bohemia traveling through the snow on St.
Stephen's Day. Paired with its traditional 13th-century
melody, it then takes on a modern twist as it is arranged in a
jazzy, swing-style 5/4 meter, similar to Take Five. The verse
uses simple unison or two-part lines, and the jazzy four-part
harmonies on the choruses are easy to learn.
