Passacaglia of
Remembrance
Fred Gramann.
This beautifully written original work features an
ostinato bass line with well-crafted variations that
develop with each iteration. Half-note, quarter-
note, then eighth- and sixteenth-note passages
and triplets in the treble bells add a sense of
movement while the bass line remains constant.
Written in 3/4 time, the overall structure is
symmetrical: a simple beginning, progressive
development reaching a musical peak, then
a return to a simple ending. This well-crafted
piece will be wonderful in concert, worship
(especially during Lent), and in any memorial or
remembrance event.

Resurrection Morning
Joel Raney.
This arrangement begins quietly and soon builds
to a glorious Easter celebration. It includes
verses from these familiar Easter hymns: Low
in the Grave He Lay; Crown Him with Many
Crowns; The Day of Resurrection!; Christ Is
Alive and Christ the Lord Is Risen Today. The
handbell parts are accessible, and the piano
adds a lovely harmonic richness. Optional 3-5
octave handchimes.

Wondrous Cross
arr. Sandra Eithun.
While rhythmically simple, added musical
elements, handchimes, and techniques engage
listeners while creating opportunities to foster
growth in a beginning ensemble. This well-
known hymn is always well received as a
thought-provoking backdrop during the Lenten
season or communion services. The optional
suspended bells that bookend the arrangement
create a feel of steeple bells in the distance
calling worshipers together. Both editions are
compatible. Optional 2-3 octave handchimes.

Beginning ensembles will love this setting of the
tune HAMBURG that uses the echo technique
very effectively. Despite having no bell changes
and no notes shorter than quarter notes, this
arrangement has a full, lush sound and gives
careful treatment of the melody.
