Rhosymedre—Ralph Vaughan Williams/
arr. Carol Lynn Mizell. Rhosymedre (meaning
"lovely" in Welsh) is the name of a hymn tune
written in the 19th century, named after the
village of Rhosymedre in Wrexham, Wales.
The tune was used by Vaughan Williams as
the basis of the second movement of his organ
composition Three Preludes on Welsh Hymn
Tunes. A faithful transcription of that organ piece,
this arrangement may be played by handbells
and handchimes alone, but optional flute and
cello parts enhance this beautiful setting.

Water into Wine—Hart Morris. This beautiful,
expressive, and sensitive work was inspired
by the "water into wine" miracle described in
John 2. The piece begins with an ethereal mix
of wind chimes, singing bell, and handchimes
which underlay the gentle random ringing of
specific notes in the bells. This segues into the
lyrical melody supported by a gentle, flowing LV
accompaniment. Handchimes are featured in a
lovely minor setting, followed by very expressive
sections leading to the return of the beautiful
main theme. It grows to a glorious climax and
then gradually diminishes into a beautiful,
peaceful ending. Well crafted and lovely.

CHIME BANDS
Great for the classroom!
Chime Bands—Malmark. Optimize teaching for non-music readers! If you
have handchimes at your disposal, teaching music reading with the help of
colors couldn't be simpler! Using colors or shapes corresponding to pitch
names is an effective way to teach eye and hand coordination to non-music
readers. Colored bands can be wrapped around the handchime tubes so that
each ringer can identify a pitch with a color. In the case of vision deficiency,
the shape may also be drawn on the band. The success rate in learning is
quite high, and this process is a natural step leading to music literacy. Used
in Boomwhacker and KidsPlay systems. Available in packets of eight band
colors (five of each color) and a template for trimming the bands to size.
