Our Great Redeemer's Praise
Thomas Jarman/arr. Anna Laura Page.
The traditional Charles Wesley text is combined with the buoyant tune,
LYNGHAM, to create a rousing anthem. A regal first stanza is followed
by a legato treatment in the second stanza. The third stanza, set in
relative minor, beautifully paints the text. The regal style returns in the
last stanza for a triumphant ending. Parts for 3-5 octave handbells
are available separately, as are score and parts for trumpets 1 &2,
trombones 1 & 2, horn in F (sub. for trombone 1), tuba, percussion,
timpani, and organ.

This choral anthem is entirely in Latin with mostly homophonic choral
writing. Sung by the soprano or mezzo soloist the first time, the choral
parts add warmth but do not distract from the soloist the second time
through. The keyboard arrangement provides support and should be
played with a delicate touch.
