I Saw Three Ships—arr. Joel Raney. This fun
and boisterous arrangement includes mallets
and many other stopped techniques. The lilting
opening section gives way to a grandiose
presentation of the melody and then returns
to the sea-shanty feel of the beginning. Paired
with piano, this wil be a wonderful concert or
Christmas selection.

I Wonder as I Wander—arr. Hart Morris.
Arranged for harp and handbells, together they
are a perfect combination of texture and tone
for an enchantingly beautiful setting. Singing
bell, LVs, delicate random rings, and gentle
malleted notes support the melody, which
is featured in both instruments. If a harp is
not available, keyboard or synthesizer with a
digital harp sound may be used. This special
arrangement is sure to become a favorite
addition to your Christmas handbell repertoire!

In the Bleak Midwinter—arr. Fred Gramann.
This setting of Holst's tune CRANHAM begins
with a solo eighth-note line inspired by the
lyrics "Snow had fallen, snow on snow" and is
soon joined by whole-note chords using tower
swings to suggest "frosty winds made moan."
The second appearance of the tune expresses
the simplicity of the final verse of the poem:
"Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart."

In the Bleak Midwinter—Johann Pachelbel &
Gustav Holst/arr. Craig Laumann. This creative
marrying of two familiar and favorite classical
works creates a lovely piece for sacred and
secular settings. The Pachelbel Canon pedal
line featuring flowing LVs supports alternating
melodies of the Canon and Holst's
CRANHAM.
The score begins in C major, with a key change
to the original key of D in the final section when
the two tunes are fully integrated. This will be a
wonderful addition to your group's repertoire!

of the traditional Polish Christmas lullaby
W ZLOBIE LEZY is complemented by an original
melody which serves as introduction, interlude,
and closing. Either handbells or handchimes
may be used throughout the entire piece or
in various sections at the director's discretion.
The melody takes its turn in both the treble and
bass clefs, with LV accompaniments in the
opposite clef. There are no bell changes, and
the editions are compatible.

the music interesting, alternating between
handbells and handchimes (optional 3-4
octaves). The only accidentals are located in
the melody. This edition is perfect for beginning
ensembles ready to try the next level.

The Moon of Wintertime (with O Come, O
Come, Emmanuel)—arr. Karissa Dennis.
This reflective piece combines Twas in the
Moon of Wintertime with O Come, O Come,
Emmanuel, making it perfect for Advent or
Christmas. Echo and LV make for a warm tone
in the chordal and arpeggio accompaniment
while the melody floats above. The ending
encompasses both tunes, simply conversing
to a close on an open chord, emphasizing the
mystery of that holy night.

Now the Green Blade Rises—arr. Daniel
Ujifusa. This fresh and amazing setting of the
traditional French carol is creative, unique,
rhythmic, and lots of fun to ring! It is very
accessible for Level 3 choirs except for a
challenging rhythmic section which moves
from 4/4 to 6/8 to 3/4, making the piece Level
4 if rung accurately and at tempo! It is mostly
malleted in the bass with a few mallet lifts and
marts appearing throughout. Arranged for a
youth bell choir, this is a perfect piece for
that age group - but all who enjoy rhythmic
challenges will love this one, and audiences
will surely be poised to applaud at the
last chord!

Now the Green Blade Riseth (Sing We Now
of Christmas)—arr. Kevin McChesney. Back
by popular demand, this classic arrangement of
the French Carol Noel Nouvelet has alternate
texts which allow it to be used at Christmas
and Easter. Malleted bass rhythms open the
piece and continue beneath the tune, driving
it forward. A full sounding arrangement, this
one keeps every hand busy yet still is very
workable. An excellent and fun arrangement
for everyone!

This exciting arrangement of the favorite carol
pulses with unceasing energy and joy. The

your listeners riveted and are easy to learn,
making the work more accessible than its level
marking may indicate. Another winner for the
Christmas season!

O Little Town of Bethlehem—arr. Carol
Lynn Mizell. When the familiar words of O
Little Town of Bethlehem are sung, the hymn
tune
ST. LOUIS is the one most often heard
in the United States. In the United Kingdom,
Canada, and Ireland, one hears the
FOREST
GREEN tune. As a tribute to the international
nature of the fellowship of the handbell
community, this arrangement uses both of
these tunes. To add to the visual aspect of
the handbell performance, a new suspended
mallet technique is employed at the beginning
and the end of the piece. Optional 2- or 3-7
handchimes and 2 octaves Petit & Fritsen or
auxiliary bells.

O Morning Star, How Fair and Bright (O Holy
Spirit, Enter In)—arr. Patricia Hurlbutt. Written
in the style of a toccata, this arrangement
features long, sustained melodic notes over
a busy accompaniment. After a brief chordal
section the piece concludes with a joyous
pealing of the bells. While it can be played
by beginning groups, more advanced ringers
can be challenged by using a faster tempo. If
desired, another instrument could also double
the melody. The editions are compatible,
making this a great choice for festivals and
other massed ringing events.
