Requiem—Kim Andre Arnesen. A nine-
movement work for strings, solo trumpet, three
percussionists, and child soprano, soprano, and
mezzo-soprano soloists. The main movements
of the Requiem Mass are set in Latin. Two extra
movements were added that include English
texts by Emily Dickinson and an anonymous
prayer from the Jewish Prayer Book entitled
We Remember Them. This work received its
American premiere in April 2015 by the Opus
Chorale of West Virginia, conducted by David
F. Donathan. This version was updated by
the composer in 2018. Not dedicated to any
particular person or group, this work was written
with the aim of providing solace to people who
are in pain and grieving or to assist in a moment
of remembrance and honoring.

Requiem—Heather Sorenson. This work was
designed not only to live well in the concert hall,
but also to transition into the church sanctuary.
The composer's trademark cinematic
moments, soaring choral melodies, and
impressionistic chord structures will highlight
the vulnerable humanity that has become
synonymous with her writings. This work is a
combination of traditional Latin and English,
with references to Scripture and hymn texts.
Commissioned in honor of those lost during
COVID, Requiem was written to bring hope
and healing to all who have experienced loss.
It is accompanied by full orchestra or chamber
orchestra, includes soprano and tenor soloists,
and is approximately 35 minutes in length.

Requiem—Michael John Trotta. Requiem
is a powerfully appealing, tender exploration
of love and loss. Grounded in tradition
while incorporating a present-day harmonic
language, two Gregorian chant motives are
interwoven throughout the lush harmonies and
soaring melodies. The level of difficulty is within
the reach of many choirs and most orchestral
players, making it an attractive choice for
church or concert hall. A new translation of
the traditional text makes it possible to perform
the work entirely in English or entirely in Latin.
Whether your choir sings a major work twice
a year or is looking to try a multimovement
work for the first time, this is an excellent
choice. The work has a flexible duration (28-
40 min.) depending on the inclusion of the
optional solo and/or a cappella movements.
Accomampaniment may be piano or organ
