Deborah Baker Monday. This movement of the famous "Organ Symphony" includes two of the most memorable themes ever penned by Saint- Saens. This arrangement includes the highly energetic string theme and the beautiful fugue based on his four-note theme which cycles throughout the entire symphony. The two contrasting sections of this arrangement offer two extremes of bowing style: one requiring heavy strokes at the frog and the other using legato, expressive, full bowing. 10752882 String Orchestra . . . . MA 65.00 10752883 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Apocalyptic (Finale from Symphony No. 8) —Anton Bruckner/arr. Kirk Moss. All the power and force of the Finale of Bruckner's Eighth Symphony is masterfully captured in this authentic and first-ever arrangement for string orchestra. Mature players will have the opportunity to expand on their shifting and vibrato technique as well as overall musicianship by exploring varying bow weights and speeds to create the wide variety of tone and dynamics that are required. An optional timpani part greatly enhances the intensity. A great addition to the classical repertoire! 11349253 String Orchestra, Percussion Optional MA 65.00 11349270 Additional Score . . . . MA 10.00 Aurora's March (Prologue from Sleeping Beauty Ballet, Act I)—Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky/arr. Caryn Wiegand Neidhold. Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's three masterpiece ballet scores, including Sleeping Beauty, are known for their timeless music. This arrangement for string orchestra captures the enduring melodies and great depth of Tchaikovsky's genius. Because much of Tchaikovsky's style is not written with articulations, students will need assistance with the bow stroke in order to perform this incredible piece. This march, which follows the overture in the ballet, was renamed Aurora's March for this arrangement. 11402301 String Orchestra . . . . MA 60.00 11402302 Additional Score . . . . . . . . .12.00 Capriccio Espagnol—Nikolai Rimsky- Korsakov/arr. Robert D. McCashin. This resetting for string orchestra has successfully kept the composer's intent, and to a great extent, the sounds and colors of the original orchestration. While requiring some substantial string forces, it's fully approachable by able high school groups. It consists of five connected movements based on Spanish themes. A terrific addition as a primary work for any concert! 10500790 String Orchestra . . . . MA 70.00 10500791 Additional Score . . . . . . . . .15.00 Capriol Suite—Peter Warlock. This staple of the string orchestra repertoire, composed in 1927, is based on a suite of six Renaissance dances. Each dance offers a different mood and rhythm, and together they form an excellent concert work. Original edition. 427864 String Orchestra . . . . . . A 55.00 7180581 Additional Score . . . . . . . . .10.00 Charterhouse Suite—Ralph Vaughan Williams/arr. James Brown. Arranged for string orchestra with optional piano (or harpsichord), the viola, cello and bass sections play throughout as the two solo violin parts alternate between tutti sections and solo sections. 2445864 String Orchestra . . . . MA 45.00 5962279 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 Dance of the Tumblers—Nikolai Rimsky- Korsakov/arr. Todd Parrish. Shifting is required for 1st violins, cellos, and basses, while 2nd violins and violas get exceptionally rich parts of sixteenth notes and melody throughout. This energetic dance will be a welcome challenge for advanced orchestras. 10453655 String Orchestra . . . . MA 62.00 10453704 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . 8.00 Danse Negre from African Suite, Op. 35, No. 4—Samuel Coleridge-Taylor/arr. Deborah Baker Monday. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was extraordinary in his use of themes from African American folk music, and his success contributed to the empowerment of African American musicians and composers who came after him. The final movement from a larger work, this high-energy piece is one spectacular example of Coleridge-Taylor's talent. Fingerings are clearly marked to facilitate technical passages. This is a perfect concert closer! 11398760 String Orchestra . . . . MA 70.00 11398774 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 Danza Final from "Estancia"—Ginastera/arr. Robert Longfield. Now available for strings, Alberto Ginastera's well-known finale to his "Estancia" ballet is steeped in South American folk style. The familiar cross rhythms give this malambo an infectious feel - a classic work for contest and festival consideration. 10059481 String Orchestra, Percussion Optional . MA 55.00 10083437 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . 7.50 Day of Wrath—Giuseppe Verdi/arr. Deborah Baker Monday.
