Douglas E. Wagner. The piano suite "Andalucia" (sometimes referred to as Suite Española) is by far Ernesto Lecuona's most performed and remembered work, especially the last of its six movements, Malagueña, scored here for string orchestra. The suite celebrates Andalusia, the southernmost region of mainland Spain, and, more notably, the vibrant culture of those who live there. This arrangement captures all of the passion of the original and will be perfect for concert or contest. (3:15) 11568640 String Orchestra . . . . . .M 65.00 Milonga del Angel—Astor Piazzolla/arr. Along with beautiful harmonies, interesting rhythms, and the variety of dynamics, the piece includes many opportunities to teach shifting, glissando, balance, and phrasing. A perfect choice for festival or any concert performance. 10997712 String Orchestra . . . . . .M 60.00 Mock Morris—Percy Grainger/arr. Sandra Dackow. A unique opportunity to explore improv! 11393533 String Orchestra . . . . . .M 60.00 Por una Cabeza—Carlos Gardel/arr. Christopher Selby. Por una Cabeza is a popular tango that originally appeared as a song written in 1935 by composer Carlos Gardel. It has appeared in a number of films, including Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List." This arrangement for string orchestra explores a number of musical and technical elements, including dynamic contrast, major and minor tonalities, arco and pizzicato technique, varied articulation, and musical form. 11175221 String Orchestra . . . . MA 46.00 Prelude and Fiesta—Erik Morales. Exploring rhythms and chord changes emblematic of Afro-Cuban music, this original work moves from a spicy ballad to a depiction of a fiery Latin street festival. MA 80.00 Romanian Folk Dances—Bela Bartok/arr. Monday. This arrangement features four of the six dance movements as first arranged by Bartok. Joc Cu Bata; Buciumeana; Poarga Romanesca and Marunte are exotic-sounding and dramatic. E 55.00 American Frontier—Joshua Reznicow. Wonderfully written, this Americana-sounding original work uses various ensemble configurations from within the string orchestra. Solo lines, quartet, quintet, and sectional soli all help to make up the overall design and orchestral colors of the piece. Juxtaposed to this, large divisi string writing is used to help balance the smaller ensemble writing within the score. The work is inspired by images of a Western frontier filled with rolling fields, mountains, and sunsets along with subtle character-filled details that have a forward and fast-moving feel. 11570792 String Orchestra . . . . . . A 60.00 American Patrol—F.W. Meacham/arr. Steven L. Rosenhaus. Originally a piano piece by composer F.W.
