Hark! The Herald Angels Sing—Felix
Mendelssohn/arr. Jacob Dishman. A
unique arrangement of the beloved
Christmas hymn with organ and piano, this
is intended as an invitation to the assembly
to participate at the end of a Christmas
service or as a standalone harmonization
for congregational singing. The driving
rhythms of the piano create a sense of
energy and joy in an exultant celebration of
Christ's birth.

His Light in Us—Kim Andre Arnesen.
Commissioned by the St. Olaf Choir for the
2016 St. Olaf Christmas Festival, this work
is a thanksgiving, a song about the gift of a
tiny child that suggests that only the nature
of love is changeless. It sings about our
renewed hope and how light now shines
because Christmas is a new and refreshing
gift; our hearts are renewed, and our hope
is renewed. This joyful reflection was written
for Christmas, but can be sung at any time
of year as a song of hope.

With newly composed text from Wendat
poet Andree Levesque Sioui, this
reimagined arrangement of the Huron Carol
is retitled to honor its origins and invites us
to learn from the past while working to
shape a more cohesive future. There are
extensive notes about the history and texts
of the carol included in the octavo, and

an English text. It is a beautiful choice for

In Dulci Jubilo (from "Carols for Choirs

never a danger. From Carols for Choirs 6.

Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head—arr. Patrick
Quigley. The haunting text and music of

Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine—arr.
Jonathan Kohrs. The 15th-century
RESONET IN LAUDIBUS tune is used in this
setting for choir, piano, and alto saxophone.
The soulful timbre of the saxophone plays
warm, lyrical phrases over gentle choral
writing for a memorable lullaby to the Christ
child. Alternate instrumental parts for C and
B-flat instruments and horn in F are also
available as a free digital download.

Joseph's Carol—John Rutter. This carol
recounts the Christmas story from the
perspective of Joseph. Two expressive
verses are taken by the solo baritone,
with the chorus performing a refrain
infused with expectancy and wonder. In

choir takes on the role of the angels in a
soft accompaniment. The upper three voice
parts are designed to be approximately
equal in strength, and the carol may be
accompanied by organ or small orchestra.
This carol is dedicated to the Oxford
Vaccine Team and was premiered by
Sir Bryn Terfel, The Oxford Philharmonic
Orchestra, and the Choir of Merton College
in a special tribute concert.
