Blues & Swing | Advanced Cold Peanut Butter—Scott Hall. This chart opens by layering in players starting with drum set, then adding in the fourth trumpet and continuing to build until the full ensemble is in. With a playful swing feel, it's a great challenge for advanced groups to take on. 11403543 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Does This Chart Make Me Look Phat?— Gordon Goodwin. In the style of Sammy Nestico and Count Basie, this medium swing chart is full of nuances. Included is solo space for all saxes, trumpet 4, and trombone 1. At about 110 bpm, this is truly a wonderful chart that will satisfy any mature band. As recorded by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. 10452168 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 70.00 Don't Git Sassy (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra Signature Edition)—Thad Jones. Along with Big Dipper, Don't Git Sassy is one of the most familiar charts from the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra's repertoire. As recorded on their Live at the Village Vanguard album, this spirited shuffle puts proficient bands through the paces. 10754225 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 65.00 Fill in the Gap—Len Pierro. A hard-swinging sax soli kicks off this dynamic chart before the main head is picked up by fourth trumpet and lead alto sax. Solo changes are included for alto sax and trumpet. Lead trumpet plays a high E, and the lead trombone plays a high B-flat. This is a great chart for the more advanced ensemble. 11515655 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Giant Steps—John Coltrane/arr. Mark Taylor. Here's a fresh take on a traditional jazz standard. The style is still up-tempo swing, and the saxes maintain a fair share of the spotlight along with ensemble hits and solo spots for drums; however, there is a brief excursion into 5/4 and a few other meter surprises that help give this outstanding chart a contemporary edge. Highly recommended! 10052510 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 65.00 Groove Merchant (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra Signature Edition)—Jerome Richardson/arr. Thad Jones. As recorded by the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra on their Central Park North album, this great collaboration between band member Jerome Richardson and Thad Jones has become an established standard for better bands. It's a mighty swinger with an edgy melodic line, contemporary voicings, and lots of section work that's guaranteed to bring audiences to their feet. 10754227 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 65.00 I Just Can't Wait to Be King—Elton John/ arr. Gordon Goodwin. From the Disney movie "The Lion King," Gordon Goodwin has crafted a hot jazz shuffle that goes and then goes even more! A showcase for alto and trumpet with a unison melody line and solo space for each player, it includes plenty of energy, zip, attitude and a hot shout chorus section. This chart roars! Highly recommended! 10012009 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 70.00 Inner Urge—Joe Henderson/arr. Mark Taylor. Composed by jazz legend Joe Henderson, this up-tempo burner from Mark Taylor features a mesmerizing groove and masterful scoring. The rhythm section sets the groove and then a trio of tenor, guitar and vibes carries the melody, while layers of sound are gradually added creating a powerhouse effect. Solo space is included for tenor saxophone and guitar, and there are feature spots for the brass section and later the saxophones. A great chart on a great tune! 10617872 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Rabble Rouser—Billy Byers/ed. Bob Curnow. The Count Basie Orchestra has been doing "barn burner" charts better than almost any other big band. This Billy Byers original starts out hot and never cools down. The tenor saxophone is the chosen soloist, and the full ensemble writing just keeps on keepin' on. Talk about lifting your audience out of their chairs - Wow! This one will do it. 11202780 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Rhapsody in Blue—George Gershwin/ arr. Gordon Goodwin. This is a tour-de- force arrangement by Gordon Goodwin of Gershwins's masterpiece. If you can cut it, then play it because it will truly warrant a standing ovation. The sax doubles call for piccolo (alto 1), clarinet/flute (alto 2) and bass clarinet (bari). The second alto part has the well-known clarinet solo. This chart has it all...the thematic material, swing, key changes, solo space for alto, tenor, bari, trumpet and trombone and lead trumpet range to written high F. The percussion part calls for mallets and tympani. Overall, a grasp of both jazz and classical concepts will make this chart stand apart from anything else. As recorded by the Big Phat Band. 10093211 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 70.00 10282497 CD-That's How We Roll . . . . . . . . . . . 11.98 The Rotten Kid—Buddy Greco/arr. Dick Grove. There's solo space for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and trombone, allowing each to blow as long as they would like. In addition, this tune features a saxophone soli, a short trumpet section soli (a la Dizzy), and climaxes with a great shout chorus. The Rotten Kid will be an outstanding opener or closer for any concert program! 10455882 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 A Shade of Jade—Joe Henderson/ arr. Alan Baylock. Solo changes are provided for all saxophone parts and clarinet, and the lead trumpet range is to high F-sharp. It's a wonderful rendition of this big band classic! 10311471 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 70.00 Skyliner—Charlie Barnet/arr. Sammy Nestico. As a tribute to Charlie Barnet's signature tune here is a stunning flag-waver from the master himself. No solos are required, but this powerhouse chart features a workout for every section of the band. Alto Sax 1 doubles on Soprano Sax. 10931668 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Spain—Chick Corea/arr.
