54 2025-26 Editors' Choice New Basic Library Available via ePrint Downloadable All Prices in U.S. Dollars & Subject To Publisher Revision Concert & Contest | Medium Sleep—Eric Whitacre. Take a serious look at this one! Eric Whitacre has crafted an achingly beautiful work, magnificent in its broad, sweeping lines and layering of sound. This haunting chorale begins softly and slowly blossoms to a powerful climax. It makes a fine stand-alone band piece, but can also be performed with SATB chorus, with original text by celebrated American poet Charles Anthony Silvestri. This is a superior choice for creating an intimate moment in your concert performance. 2475757 Band Set & Score. . . . .125.00 Snow on Snow—Megan Vinther. Capturing the quiet beauty of winter, this lyrical and introspective work blends haunting original melodies with Gustav Holst's beloved In the Bleak Midwinter. Delicate textures and rich harmonic progressions evoke the peaceful stillness of snowfall, inviting performers and audience to pause and reflect. Serene and expressive, this piece is a perfect addition to winter or festival concerts, offering a moment of calm amid the season's bustle. 11622936 Band Set & Score. . . . . .80.00 Sojourn—Jacob W. Ratledge. All good things must have a beginning and an end. Celebrate new beginnings and life's greatest journeys with this memorable and evocative new overture featuring boisterous percussion and celebratory winds. 11623136 Band Set & Score. . . . . .70.00 Solas Ane (Yesterday's Joy)—Samuel Hazo. With a unique blend of flowing lines and lush textures coupled with dynamic Celtic drumming, this musical creation is a very stylized and effective setting for wind band. Interspersed are quiet moments with soloistic woodwind lines that contrast nicely with the emotional full-band passages. 10022282 Band Set & Score. . . . . .80.00 Soldier's Poem from World War I—Jack Stamp. Setting Alan Seeger's powerful poem I Have a Rendezvous with Death, the musical themes are deftly woven around the narrator's lines to create an atmostphere all its own. 11618987 Band Set & Score. . . . . .90.00 Some treasures are heavy with human tears—John Mackey. The story of this work begins with a tragedy, but that's not where it ends. Although it commemorates a specific catastrophe, the piece is not programmatic. Instead, it's a meditation on grief, transcending elegizing a singular horrific event and instead representing how we cope with all tragedies. Beginning with the peacefulness of a lullaby, the piece takes a simple motive and transports it through a series of emotions that include denial, shock, fury, and anguish before finding acceptance. Throughout, conflicting harmonies present an internal turbulence that peaks in a climactic wail of agony bordering on rage. Although the ending projects a return to peace, it is left incomplete with the final gesture of a single muted trumpet rising from the silence in a bright flash only to be suddenly extinguished. - from program notes by Jacob Wallace 11372156 Band Set & Score. . . . .195.00 Songs of Old Kentucky—Brant Karrick. Exhibit the proud heritage of American folk music with this setting of tunes from the Cumberland Mountain region. From traditional ballads to knee-slapping fun songs, you'll find them all in this well-written presentation of John Riley, The Lonesome Scenes of Winter, Sourwood Mountain, Frog Went A-Courtin' and Loving Hannah. 10032526 Band Set & Score. . . . . .90.00 Sonic Pathways—Nathan Hervey. Jazz and symphonic elements combine to create this riveting work! It starts with a rhythmic groove that gives way to fantastic melodic and motivic development. Colorful percussion writing and memorable orchestration add to this unique new work that fans of Pat Metheny are sure to love! Introduce students and audiences to the limitless possibilities when genres collide - a perfect choice for any festival or concert performance. 11573994 Band Set & Score. . . . . .85.00 Southern Hymn—Samuel R. Hazo. The original themes used in this beautiful setting are intended to be played in the style of a slow Southern folk hymn, similar to Amazing Grace or Shenandoah. Using suspensions and resolutions as well as calm moments and powerfully emotional builds, this is a marvelous work for expanding your ensemble's stylistic and dynamic range. 10072347 Band Set & Score. . . . . .80.00 Spirit of Adventure—Daniel Jones. The spirit of adventure is accurately portrayed in this grade 3 tour de force. It has all the elements players and conductors love: excitement, bold sounds, and interesting harmonies; yet, it avoids the pitfalls that so often lead to failure: rapidly changing and asymmetric rhythms, phrases too long for the students to navigate, and intricate articulations. 11624537 Band Set & Score. . . . . .65.00 Strange Humors—John Mackey. Modal melodies and syncopated rhythms of Middle Eastern music with percussive African drumming bring about a striking blend of musical cultures. The central focus is the pulse of the djembe, an hourglass- shaped drum played with bare hands that's a cultural instrument of West African countries. The groove of the djembe combined with quirky rhythms throughout create an impression not soon forgotten. 10038940 Band Set & Score. . . . .195.00 Suite from Old American Songs (Flexible Instrumentation)—Aaron Copland/arr. Robert Longfeld. A flexible instrumentation arrangement of Copeland's collection of three of the most treasured American folk songs including Simple Gifts, I Bought Me a Cat and At the River. 11617940 Band Set & Score. . . . . .75.00 Suite from Showboat—Jerome Kern/arr. Charles Booker. A suite comprising songs from the 1927 Broadway musical: Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man; Bill; Make Believe and Ol' Man River. 11621840 Band Set & Score. . . . .195.00 Summer Dances—Brian Balmages. A vibrant and fanciful composition for bands at this grade level, Summer Dances offers several contrasting moods in a setting of motion and drama. Flourishes in the woodwinds and heroic themes in the brass are tempered with the colors of summer and built up with drama to a big, powerful ending. A fine piece of music from a composer sure to become a recognized name in band music. 2449882 Band Set & Score. . . . . .90.00 Sunbloom—Gavin Lendt. Capture the energy and optimism of a new day in a fast- paced and uplifting Grade 3 work inspired by the motion and momentum of a runner's journey. From the quiet spark of dawn to the adrenaline of the starting line and the final push toward the finish, this piece pulses with drive and determination. Light pops flair, joyful themes, and rhythmic vitality combine with moments of lush, expressive scoring to create a work that radiates warmth and spirit. Ideal for concert or festival performance, this celebrates energy, motion, and the joy of forward momentum. 11622928 Band Set & Score. . . . . .80.00 Super Nova (Music for an Imaginary Video Game)—Andrew Boysen Jr.. Help our superhero Nova save the galaxy from the evil tyrant Gamma Ray! Here's exciting music for all of Nova's adventures through the Storm Sphere; Land of Mystic Mirrors; Puffy Prairie and Boss Battle. Nova's Theme is enhanced by synthesized sounds played live on an iPad using GarageBand or a similar device. Alternatively, prerecorded sounds may also be used. All sounds, including a GarageBand file and MP3s, are available for download from the publisher. 11618993 Band Set & Score. . . . . .90.00 Sway—Ed Windels. Sway began life as the second movement of my Incidentally Music for flute, clarinet, guitar, violin and cello, premiered in 2010. That piece was an exploration of dance or dance-like forms of Latin heritage. Sway is not a specific dance form, but generally inspired by the genre. During the early spring of 2022, it occurred to me that it would translate well to concert band, allowing me to explore coloristic possibilities and add some extra rhythmic interest to the main melody. 11605324 Band Set & Score. . . . .100.00 Symphonic Mountain Fantasy (for Concert Band)—Trenton Rhodes. The genesis for Symphonic Mountain Fantasy was the idea of writing a piece with a smaller reduced instrumentation but at a higher grade level. The result is a work that is derived mainly from a singular melody presented in the beginning, taking it to completely different places and tonalities throughout the entirety of the work. The melody rises and falls in ways that resemble mountainous terrain far in the distance, which is where the title originates from. This piece was chosen as the winner of the 2025 Association of Concert Bands/John Phillip Sousa Foundation Composition Contest. - Trenton Rhodes, 2025 11628023 Band Set & Score. . . . . .60.00 The Clapping Song—Randall Standridge. What do you get when you mix symphonic motivic development, a touch of country hoedown, and a hint of jazz, all tied together with clapping from the ensemble? This unique offering is as much fun to play as it is hard to describe. Colorful orchestration and engaging percussion are used to great effect in this piece that will have the audience tapping their toes and clapping along before you know it. 11400078 Band Set & Score. . . . . .75.00 The Dream—Steven Webb/arr. Cody Myre. In a moment of reflection, celebrate the joy of all that we hold dear. This work now arranged for band features brilliant ensemble harmonies and delicate moments to let your performers shine! 11623112 Band Set & Score. . . . . .60.00 The Winter Storm—Aaron McMichael. During the winter, large storms occur from time to time. These storms can be dangerous and beautiful at the same time. This piece starts off fast, dark, and furious, then moves into a lighter mood during the middle section before ending as it started. Paying close attention to all articulations and dynamics throughout the piece while maintaining the balance between winds and percussion will develop many essential musical skills. With interesting melodies, subtle dissonance, and multiple percussion parts, your journey through the winter storm will be exciting and enjoyable. Use this as a concert opener or closer and for contest use. 11516679 Band Set & Score. . . . . .75.00 Tirelessly through the Night...—William Owens. William Owens' powerful, programmatic work, Tirelessly through the Night..., is a musical depiction of the explosion that ravaged a small Texas community. Beginning softly and hauntingly, the "Foreboding" gradually intensifies as the destructive "Crisis" chaos ensues. The "Aftermath" and "Regenesis" segments offer hope and reassurance in the wake of tragedy. Serious music for serious ensembles! (4:00) 11616405 Band Set & Score. . . . . .80.00
