Sammy Nestico pays tribute to his long-time friend and trombone icon, Bill Watrous, with this touching trombone solo feature of Mancini's Too Little Time from the soundtrack of the 1954 film "The Glenn Miller Story." The trombone solo part requires a strong player as far as range, but is not technically difficult. This is a captivating, contemporary even-eighth note ballad in the ECM tradition. Your lead alto player can really shine during this tuneful original for advancing groups. Ranges and rhythms are very accessible, but the rhythm section's interpretation must be solid and nuanced.
