This hot salsa tune took Cuban- born artist Celia Cruz all the way to the top of the Latin Grammy Awards! Celia, or "the Queen of Salsa" as she's also known, made the song famous, and Victor Lopez put it right in the pocket for younger bands. A strong rhythmic drive, easy ranges and catchy themes add up to real Latin magic! 2474214 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 48.00 Libertango—Astor Piazzolla/arr. Paul Murtha. One of the most familiar tangos throughout the world, Libertango, arranged here by Paul Murtha, will give your young players a chance to learn this important and engaging musical style. David Berger. Composed by Duke Ellington and arranged by jazz arranger and transcriber, David Berger, Limbo Jazz is a calypso- swing for the younger player. Based on the simple chord progression to Happy Birthday, the rhythm section plays a simple even eighth note, limbo/Latin style and the winds play with a slight swing feel and it all comes together just right! There's some neat plunger mute work too. This chart includes accessible ranges and written solos for alto sax, trumpet and trombone along with great fun and history. Available here in a version for young bands, Michael Sweeney carefully simplifies the complexities of the tune while maintaining the rhythmic drive and energetic style of the original. Arranged for full jazz ensemble, it's also playable with as few as 4 saxes, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones and 3 rhythm. Written with younger players in mind, this fantastic Afro-Latin chart makes you want to dance from the first note. Here's a hip and accessible blues tune with a Latin groove scored perfectly for beginning jazz ensembles. Creative scoring produces a repetitive bass groove that is playable without becoming tiresome, and quality unison writing makes for great ensemble playing.
