A bossa nova inspired by Greek mythology, this chart starts with a twisted chorale and leads the listener on a journey to bring Persephone out of the underworld. 11622566 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 65.00 Running of the Bulls—Doug Beach & George Shutack. This unique original is an ideal change-of-pace tune for your next festival or concert program. For developing ensembles, it opens with a mysterious, Spanish style rubato introduction with solo trumpet and rhythm section, then breaks into an all-out, hot Latin/Spanish style that doesn't let up. Crisp ensemble work and written or improvised solos lead to a percussion break before the head returns. Pure excitement! 10093888 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 So Danco Samba—Antonio Carlos Jobim/arr. Victor Lopez. Victor Lopez creatively sets Jobim's great samba with an alternating and brief swing feel. The tempo is around 158 bpm, and it's tasty with some clever quotes you'll recognize. There's also a written or improvised solo for tenor sax, a few piano montuno interludes, accessible brass ranges, and optional parts included for augmented instrumentations. Add it all together and you've got a fine samba chart. Highly recommended! 10756384 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 48.00 Song for My Father—Horace Silver/ arr. Mark Taylor. A classic composition by Horace Silver, this tune is written in a moderate Latin style. Opening with a 4 horn combo (alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone), it features some very nice ensemble writing. 2384295 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Tico's South Side Rumba—Michele Fernandez. Whenever you see this composer's name on a Latin chart (or any chart) you know it is going to be fire. This authentic rumba is no exception. A groove that will have the audience dancing in the aisles and melody you won't be able to get out of your head. The flute over the sax soli adds the perfect spice. Very meticulous percussion scoring ensures an authentic interpretation that will give your students a wonderful education in Latin styles and playing techniques. Open solos. Lead Trumpet plays optional high B and Lead Bone plays optional high G. A must have! 11617956 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 We Three Kings—John Henry Hopkins Jr./arr. Greg Moody. This Afro-Cuban arrangement puts an unexpected twist on the beloved Christmas classic. Written-out solos and moderate ranges make this change-of- pace holiday number accessible to bands encompassing a wide range of abilities. 11622183 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 70.00 Latin Selections Medium Afro Blue—Mongo Santamaria/arr. Michael Mossman. Made famous by John Coltrane, but treated here in a more traditional Afro-Latin style, this is something a little different for jazz ensemble. As with all Mossman charts, the rhythm section is meticulously notated to ensure the correct style. The 3/4 pattern throughout draws heavily on African influences and the melody is masterfully passed from section to section. A single pentatonic scale works for the solo section, making this a wonderful vehicle for involving many soloists. 2478928 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Alla Africana—Jane Kozhevnikova. With its memorable piano hook, creative use of percussion, and unison rhythms, your band will excel with this excellent Afro- Cuban chart! 11614393 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Angels We Have Heard Can Salsa (Optional Reduced Instrumentation)— arr. Erik Sherburne. Two holiday classics combined in a great salsa chart! Catchy and playable, this chart is a very clever update to these seasonal favorites. 11621967 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Angels We Have Heard Can Salsa—Erik Sherburne. Two holiday classics combined in a great salsa chart! Catchy and playable, this chart is a very clever update to these seasonal favorites. 11621972 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 50.00 Blue Bossa—Kenny Dorham/arr. Mark Taylor. One of the essential Latin jazz classics, this catchy tune moves and grooves in Mark Taylor's spicy arrangement. It really makes the most of the Latin rhythmic feel, with exciting solo space and well-articulated ensemble backups. Very cool... and hot! 2475702 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 Carismatica—Michele Fernandez. This is the real deal - an authentic bossa nova from a master of the style. Creative voicings along with guitar and vibes create some fresh and exotic colors, and an unexpected shift to a funk groove takes it to the next level. Along with detailed rhythm section parts, there are optional auxiliary percussion parts that add to the Brazilian feel. Moderate brass ranges and straightforward rhythms make this a very playable chart. Open solos for all instruments. 11562065 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 60.00 Chili Today, Hot Tamale—Rick Hirsch. A great title and great chart! Chili Today, Hot Tamale is set in a samba groove in cut time at around 90 bpm. It's accessible to a solid easy to medium grade level, there are written solos for trombone 1 and tenor sax 1, optional parts for expanded instrumentations, and the trumpet 1 range goes to written A above the staff with optional lower notes. This chart is fun to play and loaded with energy! 10452086 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 48.00 Coconut Champagne—Denis DiBlasio/arr. Victor Lopez. Victor Lopez' arrangement of this great tune by Denis DiBlasio is a more accessible version than the original. At a medium grade level with an upbeat samba groove, everybody gets some action with the classic Maynard Ferguson trumpet solo harmonized for the trumpet section in a playable range. There is a sax section soli that can also be a solo for bari sax or any saxophone. An optional percussion part will complete the package. You'll dig this chart... it soars, it excites! 10277765 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 52.00 El Alma de la Banda (The Soul of the Band)—Gordon Goodwin. It's soulful, Latin, and full of energy - phenomenal jazz writing while still being accessible to well- developed high school jazz programs. All instrumentalists enjoy hip and memorable licks. The lead trumpet range is to written high C above the staff, with solo space (suggested written solo) for alto, tenor, bari, trumpet, and trombones 1 and 2. Auxiliary percussion plus optional flute and vibes complete this gem. 11511948 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . 55.00 PATRIOTIC JAZZ CHARTS Perfect for those special moments in community events, school programs, and more! American Patrol—arr. Mike Lewis. Glenn Miller's band made this a huge hit in World War II. Here it's scored for young players, with no individual solos, very modest brass ranges, and plenty of ensemble sound. Easy to rehearse and perform, it swings right along and is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentation. A winner! 10028059 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . E 42.00 Battle Hymn of the Republic—William Steffe, Julia Ward Howe /arr. Bryan Kidd. Patriotism "cooks" in this infectious, bluesy shuffle. All ensemble with the whole band working together to produce a determined, yet happy and swinging performance including a kickin' sax soli and hot shout chorus. 11313813 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 50.00 Jazz Superset No. 5: The Patriotic Collection—arr. Mike Lewis. Every jazz ensemble should have this wonderful patriotic collection in their library! Mike Lewis offers complete arrangements of our nation's most familiar songs in stirring arrangements useful for a variety of performance needs. Titles include: America; America The Beautiful; The Star Spangled Banner (with optional lyric sheet); The Battle Hymn Of The Republic; God Bless The U.S.A. and American Patrol. Very highly recommended! 2471393 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .ME 60.00 The Star-Spangled Banner—arr. Paul Clark. Although this piece is not usually associated with jazz bands, this arrangement works so well it can appropriately be included in any jazz concert. It's also invaluable to have in the files for those emergency situations when a jazz group is called upon to perform our national anthem. It includes just the right elements to give it a jazz flavor yet maintains the dignity and reverence of the original. While it is harmonically jazzy, it is rhythmically traditional and can serve as accompaniment for audience singing. It is also playable with reduced instrumentation. If your jazz ensemble plays for basketball games, this is perfect. A wise investment for all jazz programs! Highly recommended! 10050282 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . .ME 45.00
