Guitar. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 11202204 Additional Score . . . . . . 9.50 Galician Carol—arr. Joe Derhake. Situated in the northwest corner of modern Spain, Galicia is an autonomous region and distinct nationality under Spanish law. It was Celtic land for about 1000 years until it was incorporated into the Roman Empire in 19 BC. This carol reflects both the Celtic and Hispanic heritage of the Galician people. While the opening tune fairly resembles an Irish jig, the key change to minor and the accompaniment of castinets and tambourine displays the distinct Hispanic influence. Traditionally the tune is often played on the Galician gaita, the generic term for Spanish bagpipes, which has drone and chanter pipes like its Irish and Scottish cousins. This arrangement includes a part for optional tambourine and castanets which can be performed by a single percussionist. Careful consideration was taken in scoring interesting parts for all players and every instrument in the orchestra plays significant sections of the melody. 11624546 String Orchestra . . . . . 60.00 11624583 Additional Score . . . . . . 7.00 The Gates of Janus—Richard Meyer. Explore the duality of music with this piece inspired by Janus, the Roman god of opposites. Featuring contrasting melodies - one slow and soft, the other fast and loud - students will uncover six musical opposites and enhance their skills and expressive performance. Perfect for sparking discussions on how music conveys emotions. (3:20) 11619602 String Orchestra . . . . . 65.00 11619682 Additional Score . . . . . 10.00 Gesu Bambino—Pietro Yon/arr. Erik Morales. This arrangement by Erik Morales is the perfect choice to set the mood at your next holiday concert and bring an enduring sense of peace to your audience. (3:00) 11619642 String Orchestra . . . . . 65.00 11619722 Additional Score . . . . . 10.00 Glasconia—Todd Parrish. Follow this musical adventure of ambition and perseverance through tumultuous times as it rises to the glorious triumph of achieved success. The piece begins with violin and cello, building in texture and strength as instruments join in. Mixed meter and staccato accompaniments depict unexpected challenges, but a steadfast theme endures and rises triumphantly. Representing all who are inspired by determination, the entire orchestra comes together to celebrate the legacy of music. 11608231 String Orchestra . . . . . 65.00 11608265 Additional Score . . . . . . 9.50 Goblin Dance—Kevin Kaisershot. A playful A-minor rondo for string orchestra in 6/8 time. The first violins are the stars of the rondo theme, but the contrapuntal interest of the accompanying lines keeps every section on its rhythmic toes throughout. The second violins, violas, and cellos each get their own impish moments to shine melodically. While not conceived with any specific occasion in mind, this is certainly appropriate for a fall or Halloween- themed concert. At any time of year, its tart, minor harmonies and mischievous rhythms will bring variety and tang to any string orchestra program, and it can easily function nicely as a string quintet. 11621753 String Orchestra . . . . . 65.00 11621785 Additional Score . . . . . 10.00 The Golden Gateway—Brian Balmages. Celebrate music and its ability to connect with communities around us! This joyful work is a powerful reminder of the many ways music inspires and invigorates. Beginning with a beautiful, heartfelt introduction, the work soon takes off in exuberant twists and turns before coming to a heroic conclusion. A sure-fire hit for your next concert! 10981246 String Orchestra . . . . . 70.00 10981247 Additional Score . . . . . 15.00 Grounder Breaker—Stephen Chin. The title is a pun on exploring new territory and the power of earthmoving equipment. The arresting key of G minor, the strong themes, and the incessant use of down-bows suggest the driving force of these kinds of groundbreakers. 11625696 String Orchestra . . . . . 70.00 11625700 Additional Score . . . . . 15.00 Hadlie's Song—Kirt N. Mosier. Hadlie is the composer's granddaughter, and this piece was written to celebrate her childlike beauty, rambunctious nature, and her dreams that she loves to imagine. A challenging and recommended piano part is included, but not required. Lots of divisi adds to an incredible richness and timbre. 11619007 String Orchestra . . . . . 70.00 11619008 Full Score . . . . . . . . . . 12.00 In Your Wildest Dreams—Tyler S. Grant. In Your Wildest Dreams by Tyler S. Grant is a joyous and exuberant work. Both inspiring and powerful, it includes lively ostinatos that pair with beautiful sweeping lines in a celebration of the world's dreamers and the determination necessary to make those dreams a reality. Interesting harmonic shifts bring the work to an exhilarating conclusion! (2:00) 11619643 String Orchestra . . . . . 65.00 11619723 Additional Score . . . . . 10.00 Incantations—Richard Meyer. Two solo violins and a solo viola introduce this piece through a haunting, lyrical theme, which is subsequently taken up by the entire orchestra. It expands, gradually morphing into a fast and frenetic second theme. The two themes are then heard at the same time, each vying for attention. The pace slackens momentarily before a wild coda closes the piece. Full of a wide variety of colors and interesting tonalities, this work gives every section of the mature string orchestra a chance to shine. 2478662 String Orchestra . . . . . 75.00 5990616 Additional Score . . . . . 10.00 Intermezzo (from "Cavalleria rusticana")—Pietro Mascagni/arr. Katie O'Hara LaBrie. Lyrical - delicate - passionate - these words barely touch the surface of this beautiful arrangement that explores expressive playing with music well within reach of younger ensembles while also being an excellent choice for more mature groups. An optional harp part adds depth and detail.
