Mysterious Gifts—arr. Joshua V. Hinkel.
Based on the popular Shaker tune Simple
Gifts - apart from the traditional setting,
this creation explores the melody through
dark and light harmonic structures. At the
suggestion of one of his students, the
composer's take on the famous melody
has a darker twist while remaining exciting
and fun to perform. There are several
educational and challenging moments
when students will explore higher-range
notes and fourth-finger placements.
