Hymn for a Hero—Bert Appermont. This
composition was inspired by the life of the
German cavalry general Hans Michael Elias
von Obentraut (1574-1625). The heroism
of the illustrious general is expressed in a
majestic hymn. It can be played alone or
within the four-movement "A Hero's Tale."
Following the opening fanfare, this flex
version can be played along with the first
movement; thus, a youth or beginner band
can perform together with a band of adults
or advanced players.
