Old Havana—Brad Ciechomski. The opening
portion of this Latin rock chart is set in C minor
at 144 bpm. The rhythm section parts are well
notated, and the chart grooves along before
kicking into high gear with a piano montuno at 215

Pass the Hot Sauce—Brad Ciechomski. Ignite
an infectious hot Latin groove from the downbeat!
Utilizing authentic traditional rhythms and repetition,
this chart allows your young band to lock in and
turn up the heat! Your students will experience the
rhythmic energy of soca, or soul calypso, which
emphasizes the music's connection to African-
American and Trinidadian traditions. Moderate
ranges make this chart easily playable across the
score. Fun techniques and an open solo section
based on a captivating piano montuno allow plenty
of room to feature your developing soloists.

Red Clay—Freddie Hubbard/arr. Mike Kamuf.
A gem of a chart for developing jazz bands.
Characteristically, it's a straight-eighths groove
at 132 bpm with written or ad lib solos for tenor
sax and trumpet 2. A more subtle and quieter
interlude adds variety and interest, and a unique
and effective rhythm section break featuring
the bassist leads to the return of the head. The
trumpet 1 range is to written G on top of the staff
and a nice shout chorus further adds to the fun.
Playable with optional expanded instrumentations.
A great jazz standard superbly arranged!

Rutabaga—Mathew Montgomery. How do you
get your band to internalize a shuffle groove?
Answer: ru-ta-ba-ga, ru-ta-ba-ga, ru-ta-ba-ga, ru-
ta-ba-ga. This modern shuffle hooks the listener
from the beginning with its infectious groove and
takes them on a journey through a tenor sax solo
to the shout chorus before winding down to a
recap of its groovy beginnings.
11622552 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . MA 65.00
Serenity Now—Philip Loewen. This original rock

There's a New Dog in Town—Rick Hirsch.
The musical love child of Led Zeppelin, Thad
Jones, and Gil Evans – this muscular piece has
a wonderful dynamic arc that makes it great
anywhere in a festival or concert set. Cut your
rhythm section loose and feature your bari and
trombone soloists. Rhythm section parts are
notated as needed, and several alternate parts
are included in the set.

Kamuf. Oh yeah! This is a crowd pleaser and a
band pleaser... a win-win! Fun, funky, hip, groovy
– call it what you want, this chart is excellent in
every way. And if you have a decent bari player,
they will really love this one. There are written
solos for alto and tenor sax, a stop-time without
rhythm section for the saxes, a fantastic interlude
section, a monster shout chorus, and some short
drum fills Optional expanded instrumentation.

Whiplash—Hank Levy/arr. Erik Morales. Featured
in the 2014 movie "Whiplash" depicting the
relationship between an ambitious student musician
and an abusive yet respected instructor, this chart
is a super-exciting work in 7/4. Don't be intimidated
by the meter – it's challenging, but after a few
minutes it feels quite natural and the students will
totally groove on it. The melody is stated by second
trumpet and first alto with solo space for both on
easy chord changes. Articulation is critical, and the
rhythm section may want to spend some quality
time together. The lead trumpet range is to written
D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable
chart to have in your library. You won't regret it!
