Blessed (A Holy Week Journey
Through the Beatitudes)—Joel Raney.
This musical journey explores Holy Week
through the lens of the Beatitudes. The
lyrics are in the present tense, as though
the events of Holy Week are happening in
real time. Through this experience, all are
invited to see the Beatitudes with a new
understanding: Christ is not only the One
who blesses, but by becoming one of us,
is Himself one of the blessed. Aside from
an opening introduction, it is intended to
be performed without narration; however,
optional narrations are provided. Piano
accompaniment may be augmented with
parts for flute, oboe, French horn, violin,
and cello, available separately.
